Adding a form field in most web frameworks:

1. Add property to model
2. Write a migration (if it isn't automated)
3. Add field to the relevant templates
4. Perhaps write a validation function

Adding a form field to the WooCommerce checkout process:

I have written 330 lines of code and I'm still not entirely sure if it really works.
