I’m sure Arch and Manjaro are worth a try, back in the day I tried RedHat/SuSE/Slackware/Debian/Ubuntu and ended up with Mint Cinnamon.
The closest to Arch I tried was using Debian Sid, but got annoyed when I one time had to battle with getting it up and running after a dist upgrade. I really hope Arch handles those upgrades better.
The most annoying with that upgrade was that the UI changed to an early version of Gnome Shell, I think that prompted me to switch to Mint MATE
Nowadays it’s easy when you open vim inside gnome terminal, in my old offline noob days it was like “oh shit my terminal is locked” and the way out was either Alt+F2 and then try again or Ctrl+Z; pkill %1.
I never caught the vim bug and started with using joe and switched to nano later, I played with Emacs for some time but ended up using a GUI editor instead.
Valid point, the annoying part is that it’s the trend for major technology companies to just change their tos and not really do anything new. So there’s a lot of discussion about boring stuff.
So I jumped ship from Windows to Kubuntu last night, and It’s mostly been pretty good. However my general performance of the computer has been abysmal. Like it takes upwards of 5 seconds to open anything. All of my hardware seems to be running at max speeds, so I have no idea why it would be so sluggish? It’s as if I’m...
Sorry I should have started my comment with a disclaimer that I absolutely know it’s a software problem but. It’s always prudent to ensure against crud buildup inside the computer.
So I thought The Creator was brilliant. I watched it in the cinema, thoroughly enjoyed it and was gobsmacked when I learned it's budget was only $79 million. It looks better than some films I've seen that cost three times that....
For various reasons I have mainly moved from watching movies/series to audio books, one plus is that there are way more books available than movies, and most of the time the book is better than the movie. Its also much easier to read a book in many parts, compared to watching a movie in parts.
The McD’s or BK’s I have visited with ordering computers and only one till, looks to have around the same number of staff, mostly they just stopped taking orders while packing them.
For those of you who use Raspberry Pi’s in your home environment, I’m curious as to what you use them for. What applications are you running on them? Do you have your Pi’s setup in a cluster?
I couldn’t find a simple plug and play solution, so it took several tries to find the right guides, especially because raspbian have changed their Bluetooth/audio setup, so the old guides don’t work.
The solution I found uses a script/daemon that sets up the speaker and waits for Bluetooth connections.
Yep that’s also how I set it up, it boots up in RetroPi and then you can start Kodi from there, but now I mostly boot up on the MPD SD card instead. I have also configured it to be a Bluetooth speaker, so I can attach the phone.
