CaptDust,

I’ll just be honest, from my perspective on lemmy everything outside of porn, linux and shitposts is lacking. Interaction outside the top of hot is a wasteland of non-existence, questions go undiscovered, comments are never read. We could all be more generous with upvotes to improve visibility.

For me sfw art communities, sports, and life protips would all be nice to see grow. I miss the old photoshopbattles too, but I think that’s just fallen out of style in general.

CaptDust,

Daft punk, guilty gear, this one’s got it all

CaptDust,

Does 29% include the 99% of switch games the deck can play?

CaptDust, (edited )

Should have sprung for 3DS XL that screen is so tiny in the room.

CaptDust,

The 3ds is plugged in, cable is just hard to see

CaptDust,

Are they serious? What a slap in the face to people that bought in.

CaptDust,

I bought the first game and just never got to it? Damnedest thing. No idea why, I hear it’s great and reasonably quick to play through…

CaptDust,

My 10 year old car has 4 wheels, a good engine, comfy seats and bluetooth. Heating and cooling are fantastic. It does not have sensors that shit themselves if you get too close to a road line, does not need to go to the dealership for an authorized computer reset after the oil is changed, and it doesn’t have any “eco” turbos waiting for their seals to leak.

What more can I ask from a vehicle? Maybe I’m getting old and cranky, but everything they’ve added to new cars is useless crap to distract drivers and eventually break.

CaptDust,

How can you disagree? Did we watch the same race?

I tolerate Monaco because it’s been a cornerstone track for F1 since the beginning and “less about the race, more about the spectacle” as they say. Imola doesn’t have the spectacle, and it doesn’t have a competitive race. The cars can only pass reliably on a single corner. They are too long to make it cleanly through the chicanes. Unless the cars shrink, I’d rather F1 not spend another weekend here.

CaptDust,

The context is Kirby Air Ride, a racing spinoff. Not that it changes much, but it is fully 3D and a genre that can take advantage of surround sound.

CaptDust, (edited )

Fell asleep in lap 20, woke up around lap 50 and the grid hardly changed. Expecting the same next week. Meh. Monaco following Imola was a mistake.

CaptDust, (edited )

I love Imola because it feels like a “small town” track and has lots of dynamics to it. The elevations, the corners. Classic, tight and pure Italian.

But I’m also a realist, the cars racing today are bigger than ever making overtakes difficult, combined with the gravel traps making every attempt a gamble. The intent of the chicanes isn’t to launch a car over them, but the modern wheelbase seems to demand this approach.

This track only made it back on the calendar because of COVID, and is scheduled to leave next year. It’s sort of sheer luck that F1 even raced at Imola again. Big time treat for the fans, but I feel the cars have unfortunately outgrown it.

As for a recommended race, 2005 San Marino GP is pretty good with a fight between Alonso and Schumacher

Edit: adding picture comparing total dimensions between cars today, and the cars that were racing when Imola left the calendar in 2006: https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/262b2c81-5cb7-4444-a3ac-a7242728f486.jpeg

CaptDust,

Nah he’s looking sloppy all weekend, even when not crashing his lines are rough. Makes me wonder if he’s physically 100%

CaptDust,

The McLaren pace is looking phenomenal. Dare I say it, I think they finally got Lando a car. let’s goooo!

CaptDust, (edited )

It’s the 24th letter of the Latin alphabet, but I’m not sure what that has to do with video

CaptDust,

I hate to bear the bad news, but as long as the model is too large to fit entirely in VRAM getting 5 t/s on a 8x7b is going to be difficult. You can throw another 16gb RAM in the system which could help with caching and context length, but since the model is still having to juggle data in and out of VRAM the speeds will remain low.

I wouldn’t upgrade the CPU personally, focus on adding beefier GPU. And it’s probably not worth adding the 970 to the mix, the 4GB isn’t providing much room and will likely slow down the 6800 XT more.

CaptDust,

Good call out on not mixing CUDA and ROCm, I wasn’t aware of this

CaptDust,

There’s so many tools to do it, too. It’s kind of upsetting how many independent devs are investing their time towards removing this garbage instead of literally anything else.

CaptDust,

I can independently confirm. My cats definitely know their names, and their ears will perk up when called. But most of the time they can’t be bothered to turn their heads towards the sound, there’s no chance they’ll get up to engage unless they hear a treat bag crinkle with it lol
