Biden did a lot of good shit. People saying he's the same or even worse than Trump have completely lost the plot or are just RuZZian bots / useful idiots parroting RuZZian propaganda.
It seems like just recently, everything broke. Posts from some other instances (Lemmy 0.19 or kbin) aren’t showing up here reliably anymore, and then sometimes posts from a few days ago will suddenly show up. kbin.social has a banner talking about unusual “problems” without going into detail....
kbin.social really struggled with its issues affecting performance a lot which ernest seems to got a hold of by now. This didn't happen on fedia.io (mbin) but the federation issues seem to persist with being almost 2 weeks behind now. Something is really off but it also seemed to all have kicked off around the same time? Kinda feels like Lemmy pushed something that affected both platforms differently. Either way, kinda makes the Fediverse somewhat unusable and pointless if stuff like this constantly happens.
When I look at https://fedia.io/all/newest right now there seems to be very little getting through today, with only 3 new threads in the past 10 hours....
One comment in one of the kbin threads of a guy who hosts his own forked instance said it's probably caused by a Lemmy update, which I guess makes sense. kbin and mbin aren't the same code wise (can't even use the nsfw unblur here), and kbin is also a version ahead of mbin so they might just handle the same issue differently. A lot of the magazines / communities I checked have their latest threads from like a week ago when viewed through fedia. kbin ironically has similar examples, but different ones to fedia. Whatever the cause, it obviously shines a negative light on any 'bin instance and to a degree onto the fediverse. For me, I would really like to avoid having to deal with the shitty Lemmy UI and support the Lemmy devs directly.
Interestingly enough, I can access this link, but their startpage has no way to get there as far as I can tell.
I can relate to the screencapped statement though. The TV shows list is even worse. But maybe Netflix just doesn't have a whole lot of great stuff, dunno.
Yeah, I don't really use search engines as substitutes for the lack of an actual menu on a website. If they can't bother with that then I'm not going to bother trying to dig through it for them either.
Haven't watched any of those movies since they don't really interest me or straight up don't even say anything to me.
Depends highly on your country. Generally, for file sharing (peer 2 peer such as torrents), yes.
For regular downloads & streaming sites, not so much, just a fully subscribed adblocker and a bit of brain juice. Although there had been some cases of peer 2 peer streaming in the past, but I think that was via flash players. I don't know if that's still a thing anywhere and if it is, I think it would not make it into the megathread (I hope).
@snownyte
Ooooo, I'm so not impressed that your only breathing existence is to dig through people's post history to connect something insulting. Get a life, dude.
The only thing I dug through was the comment I replied to.
But thanks for proving my point! lmao
President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday that Russia was technically ready for nuclear war and that if the U.S. sent troops to Ukraine it would be considered a significant escalation of the war....
So what? Then he'd do it either way. That doesn't mean we should hiss the white flag and let him do as he pleases. Nuclear deterrence is not supposed to work like a blackmail to launch offensive operations against everyone else.
I truly wonder what Lemmy has to say about this partnership. This is going to make a interesting discussion i think. Personally have no experience with Qwant, what they are and their policies....
Another completely useless search engine for me.
It defaults to IP based country search regions (like the IP of my default VPN server) with no ability for international searches, and only a drop down menu to switch to other countries instead of a toggle, like DDG.
Sorry but this is exactly what really rubs my gears about this topic. Whenever there's something like this or a man trying to post about his abuse there's always someone, mostly women, who try to shut them up & argue about domestic abuse towards women. It's as if that somehow excuses it, or makes it not as important when it it is being done to men.
I also want to remind you that men are much less likely to actually report, or let alone even talk about domestic abuse done to them. A lot of domestic abuse done by women, such as slapping or various verbal abuse (insults, yelling, manipulation, gaslighting etc), are also often not even seen as abusive, but rather as the norm within our society. This causes statistics to be inherently flawed.
Either way though... "Who does it the most" is not actually any sort of valid argument AGAINST proper & equal help line texts in a search engine, or equal laws, or equal societal norms & standards. You generally shouldn't demand to be treated equal but then punch in the other direction whenever it suits you. That's now how that works and just makes you look like a hypocrite.

Are things broken? I know Lemmy 0.19 has some federation problems but it seems like more than that is broken for about the last week.
