Right now Meta has the best VR / AR that is easily accessible.

Too bad the company is absolute garbage. Iโ€™m not even willing to look at their โ€˜productsโ€™ anymore.

Particularly with articles like this around:

DNS based blocking only works for regular DNS requests.

At this point, any app that wanted to bypass that could use DoH/DoT+ECH to completely bypass your DNS and thus the blocking it provides. With these tools, all youโ€™d see is an outgoing TLS connection to a remote IP; all other data is encrypted.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

But whatโ€™s not encrypted by either is the Server Name Indicator or SNI, ie: the initial request to a webserver stating which host youโ€™re trying to reach at that IP, before establishing the TLS connection, contains the domain youโ€™d requested via DoH/DoT, in plaintext.

Darkassassin07,

It will prevent the ISP from snooping on, or tampering with, the DNS request. However when you go to use the IP youโ€™ve retrieved via DoH/DoT; your first request establishing a TLS connection to that IP will contain an unencrypted SNI which states the domain you are trying to use. This can be snooped on by your ISP.

True. Known as Encrypted Client Hello now, as part of TLS1.3.

It seems many more browsers support it than last Iโ€™d looked. Iโ€™m curious to see how much of the general web has adopted support for it onnthe server side. Iโ€™ll have to look into that more, and see what itโ€™ll take to setup for self-hosting.

Does your fridge have plumbing + a water/ice dispenser in the door?

A regular fridge obviously wouldnโ€™t need cleaning of parts it doesnโ€™t have.

Darkassassin07,

North America, particularly 1990-2010, fridges with a water dispenser and ice maker built in were/are pretty common. 3 of the 5 houses I lived in as a kid had one.

Filtered, colder-than-tap water, and effectively unlimited ice without having to screw around with ice cube trays. Some also provide heated water thatโ€™s far cleaner than what comes out of a typical hot water tank, but that feature is rare in my experience.

They have a filter in the water inlet, and should be cleaned inside/out roughly every 6 months (that part is neglected more often than not).

Need Want.

Everyoneโ€™s different.

My mother empties and refills the 4 trays in her freezer daily.

Most of North America, the tap water is perfectly drinkable; but it can still be improved with extra filtration.

These also provide water colder than a tap can.

To be clear, very much a luxury item, not a necessity in any way. Theyโ€™ve just become quite common over here.

The filters are also particulate filters; they wonโ€™t do much if your water is actually considered unhealthy due to bacterial contamination/youโ€™re on a boil water notice.

Thereโ€™s a few ways to do it; but if they block based on username it can lockout legitimate users too.

This is what fail2ban is for. Too many failed auths from an IP and that whole IP is blacklisted for a day or two. This can still catchout vpn users, but itโ€™s still less disruptive.

Needs third option: hopefully before the warranty expires (lemmy.world)

Those two vertical lines on the right side arenโ€™t part of the meme. Theyโ€™re faults on my TV that I keep forgetting about the moment I stop consciously noticing them. And on the rare occasion that Iโ€™m moved to try and do something about it, Iโ€™m stopped from getting it fixed by 3 things...

Definitely one of my favorite weapon concepts.

I love the simplicity of just dropping a heavy object from really high up to absolutely demolish your target. Aim is a bit of a challenge, but ยฏ(โ€˜-โ€™)/ยฏ drop more I guessโ€ฆ

I think what OC was getting at was how some animal breeds are bred with very limited groups to maintain desired bloodlines/genes. This leads to health issues due to inbreeding.

Pug dogs are a somewhat common example; same with a lot of โ€˜pure bredโ€™ dog breeds.

Iโ€™m not sure how much that applies to sphinx cats.

With a quick search, this comes up:

faqcats.com/is-breeding-sphynx-cats-cruel/

It can be done ethically, with a sufficient gene pool. It can also be done cruelly; especially when profit is involved. I canโ€™t say I have much faith in it being done ethicallyโ€ฆ But Iโ€™m sure there are some alright groups out there.

hairlessness is pretty rare in the animal kingdom

As justification to why hairlessness is bad; This lineโ€™s kinda funny comming from a hairless ape whoโ€™s species dominates the planetโ€ฆ
