LEDs are diodes; so, yes they need DC power. They don’t necessarily need a transformer. Modern bulbs use an integrated circuit with some discrete components that handle the conversion. Some cheaper bulbs use a capacitive dropper circuit with a bridge rectifier; they’re not as efficient. The really cheap ones omit the capacitor in the rectifier; they flicker.

When I took electronics, transformer meant a pair of coils of wire wrapped around some magnetic material. Their purpose is to step the voltage up or down. You still need components to convert from AC to DC. The easy way to do that is a rectifier with a capacitor that holds the charge.

How do you store your grounded coffee? (slrpnk.net)

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don’t store much at the time, it’s just if I grind a little too much and what not. I’m assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

Oxidation and loss of aromatic compounds are the big ones.

Is there something in particular you want to point out? Because I’m not seeing anything that screams monster.

Why is Jesus reading the Koran? The thickness of that book, the artwork on the cover, that is totally a Koran and not a Bible.

I think he means he wants the kind of furry that hell would draw a line at. “Hey man this hell and everything, but we got standards. You can’t do that here. You gotta go.”

Why am not surprised the case originated out of the Fifth Circuit, and they ruled against the protest organizer.

The first thing everyone heard was “Trump trial” and “man sets self on fire”. The news media was mostly covering the trial in a live stream format which didn’t help get the whole story out. Now that’s its been a few hours, a more complete picture is forming.

Mental illness is a hell of a thing. Especially when it leads to self-harm.

After reading a few articles, this is someone suffering from a bad case of mental illness leading them to conspiratorial thinking and self-harm. He picked the trial purely for attention. It’s all quite sad.

That depends on if you work for the government

I question whether or not Tesla will be around in 3 years. The Cybertruck has been one giant cash sink that has delivered a giant rusty lemon. They cancelled their latest consumer grade car. Their next product is robo-taxis and that’s with a history of driver death from their self-driving tech. And the major car brands have caught up or are at Tesla’s heels.

Surely, bot owners never thought to age their accounts before unleashing them.

CoS doesn’t worship Satan either. They’re just Ayn Rand libertarians dressed up with ritual. They’re basically atheists like TST but on the other side of the political spectrum.

Twitter for Nazis was never a viable business model. Neither is Netflix for Nazis.

Caitlin Doughty and her team put together a documentary 2 years ago. It covers some of the history, and why it’s prone to suicides.

Again? For the third time, another company wants to drill in FL's Apalachicola River floodplain (floridaphoenix.com)

The target for this treasure hunt is in Calhoun County, in a forested spot between the Apalachicola, the Chipola River, and the Dead Lakes. I don’t know if you could pick a worse spot in Florida to plop down such a toxic industry....

T-Mobile's New AI "Profiling" Privacy Toggle Is On By Default (tmo.report)

T-Mobile made waves back in 2021 when they automatically set user privacy settings to on by default for sharing customer info with advertisers. It made a lot of people angry then, and a new setting that’s appeared in the same settings is once again enabled by default....

Yeeeaaah, that makes more sense. 😅 That would be a giant gaping vulnerability if everything was in kernel space.
