Eheran,

Makes sense to clearly state they are forbidden just in case. This is aviation, you do not take risks.

Eheran,

And that is why you do not use things like calling someone a Nazi inflationary. It has the exact opposite effect.

Eheran,

How is that what I said?

Calling people that want X but do not see themselves (and are not) anywhere near far right Nazis means that the word loses all meaning. “I am a Nazi? I guess all the other people they call Nazis are/were not that bad then”

Eheran,

Yes, everything is blurry, no question. By blanket calling all of them Nazi the word loses it’s meaning. Those that previously would be like “Nazis are bad” find themselves called just that. That is all I am saying. It does not help.

Eheran,

Nazi is the most extreme far right possible. Everything else is less crazy. Mildly right people are not Nazis. They can be racist, close minded, whatever.

Eheran,

I assume most people just go to dancing casually because they like it. They do not want to have to deal with having to excuse themselves for something they do for themselves for fun.

For the same reason it can be sad when you only keep repeating the same things over and over again.

Eheran,

I was there Gandalf, in the previous millennium.

Eheran,

I assume today it is more a compete OS with games, browser, officer suite, video editing, … than just a messenger? It sure would be if I extrapolate my experience from back in the day.

Eheran,

Groups etc. are not the same there, specifically for privacy/encryption reasons.

ChatGPT Answers Programming Questions Incorrectly 52% of the Time: Study (gizmodo.com)

The research from Purdue University, first spotted by news outlet Futurism, was presented earlier this month at the Computer-Human Interaction Conference in Hawaii and looked at 517 programming questions on Stack Overflow that were then fed to ChatGPT....

Still the same shit study that does not even name the version they used…? The one posted here 1 or 2 days ago?

Eheran,

The study is using 3.5, not version 4.

Eheran,

Obviously. But it is FAR better yet again.

Eheran,

Yes. But it is better than 3.5 without any doubt.

Eheran,

So you never heard of CSB raids? Where they come in and randomly turn stuff on/off and close/open valves to see if your plant blows up?

Eheran,

I do not understand what your point is. Mine is a joke, like the meme.

Eheran, (edited )

The cracks etc. on the Miami bridge collapse developed over… weeks? They just said “nah, it’s fine” and failed to even measure how big and deep they actually are. I mean if you ignore everything up to the collapse, then it really is sudden. Not saying that you are generally wrong, but usually it is more a lack of data or ignoring it.

Eheran,

So how do you prove it can’t think? Or that you actually can?

Eheran,

It can tell you how to stack things on top of each other the best way to get a high tower. Etc.

Those are not random sentences. If you can not define thinking in a way this machine fails at, then stop saying it does not think.

Eheran,

Again, it is absolutely capable to come up with it’s own logical stuff, hence my example. Stop saying it just copies existing stuff, that is simply wrong.

Eheran,

Amazing reply, given the context.

Eheran, (edited )

Examples showing that it comes up with it’s own solutions to an answer? Just ask it something that could not have been on the Internet before. Professor talking about AGI in GPT 4

Personal examples would be to code python to solve a 2D thermal heat flux problem given some context and constraints.

Eheran,

this paper clearly says it is capable of original thought. It also “speaks” of it in high regard in other things.

Eheran,

this paper says it is capable of original thought. It also “speaks” of it in high regard in other things. That is also my experience using it for… over a year?! now.

Eheran,

“electronic parrot” and outperforming almost all humans in creativity and originality is an extreme contrast to me, regardless of my misuse of terms. So I fail to understand what you want to say, since this contrast must be apparent to you too.

The original context of my comment was even more basic and to me proven by what the paper says: Those are not things it copied somewhere. Also, I still think there is no test to prove it can/can’t think.
