Everyone says this kind of stuff about any and every social issue. It drives me insane, do people not realize that it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy? If everyone I heard say “there’s no point fighting it” got together and fought it, they’d easily win.
Most queer people I know and have talked to agree with you. I certainly do, labels can be useful but as a society we clearly focus way too much on them.
Where queer people might take issue with your comment (I’m definitely lightly irked) is that cishet people never say “I wish we would stop focusing on labels” unless the discussion is about queer labels.
People will straight up say “omg we need to chill out about labels, we’re all the same” then turn around and say shit like “men are from Mars, women are from Venus” or “boys will be boys”.
The government said it welcomed the “landmark decision”, adding it would help ensure care is based on evidence and is in the “best interests of the child”.
It’s truly insulting that they even dare suggest that this is in the best interests of trans kids, or that it’s based on any evidence. Puberty blockers save lives.
It follows a public consultation on the issue
Since when is public opinion relevant for the availability of healthcare? Can we have expert opinions, please?
The review followed a sharp rise in referrals to the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS)
“More people need this treatment than ever before! Better completely cut off access to it!” is such a malicious position to take. I actually don’t understand how these transphobic fucks can be so callous and insensitive.
Sorry, I definitely might come off as rude in this comment, but this line of thought really annoys me. Do you think people are poor simply because they’re too dumb to think “I should spend less money on groceries?” Don’t you think they’ve already considered finding a better-paying job, if such a possibility exists for them? If moving is even an option for them (which is a big if), where do you suggest they get the money to rent a moving truck, as well as the money for a security deposit on a new apartment?
Your comment is about as helpful as asking “Have you tried not being poor?”
I’ve been a closeted coffee guy for a couple years. I go out of my way to order beans I really like (a robusta variety called Indian Parchment), and this might be sacrilege on this board, idk, but I was perfectly happy running a Keurig with reusable cups I’d fill with my own grounds....
Note: I have no experience brewing or drinking robusta varieties or blends, but I figure the basics are the same/similar to arabica.
For immersion brew methods such as the French press, you get a huge dropoff in extraction rates as time goes on. A two minute steep will be massively underextracted compared to a four minute steep, but in my experience a four minute steep and a 10+ minute steep will be pretty similar in terms of extraction. A bonus of a longer steep time is that the coffee will be at a better tasting temperature.
I smoke weed every day. Casual marijuana consumption is definitely socially acceptable here (I’m in Canada where it’s legal) but I’ve been high more often than not for the past 8 years or so.

I’m running GrapheneOS, so out of 82 apps on my phone only 10 packages aren’t open-source. These include social media, messaging, banking, and Google Play Store/services. So around 88% FOSS.
I only use proprietary software on my device if there doesn’t exist a FOSS alternative*.
*I know there are open-source options for social media/messaging but I don’t really consider having to convert my whole social circle to a new platform to be a viable alternative.
I did some like 2 weeks ago after over 2 years of not doing any because I was scared I was going to have a difficult experience. (Surprise, I did and I’ve never suffered so much in my life before. Still worth it.)
I haven’t done shrooms in almost two years for those same reasons despite really missing the experience. This is making me think I need to take the plunge and use it as an opportunity for introspection, however tough that may be.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve only had one truly bad trip but it was quite similar to what you describe in your comment. It turned out to be overall very positive for me (long story short: I came out as non-binary) but it truly is a terrifying experience, especially in the moment when it feels like it’s lasting forever.
Sorry to hear about your mom, I wish you both the best!
When athletic height jumping was considered done and perfected, there was the Fosbury flop which opened new possibilities. Do you think there was such a moment in the music history? When someone showed how things can be done and from there everyone is using his/her technique?
You didn’t even mention the biggest technological leap; recording. Being able to capture music and play it at one’s will fundamentally changed virtually everything about music.

Btw, “cryptobro” is a sexist term that excludes women.
I’m usually that person getting downvoted for insisting on inclusive language so I totally get you, but girl I’ve never met a cryptobro who wasn’t a man.
Another point: for equivalent models. Car manufacturers over the past two decades have been dropping the more affordable sedans and such from their lineups, favouring their more expensive SUVs.
I’m a non-binary, vegan, theatre school drop-out. I dye my hair a new colour every couple of weeks, my main means of transportation is a bicycle, and I’m currently unemployed but my last job was as a barista. Oh and I’ve read some Marx unironically.
I’m basically a right-winger’s caricature of “a goddamn librul”.

To the vast majority of society we are not even considered human beings. To businesses and the government we aren’t considered human beings. We’re just a statistic.
I read the news a lot, especially local news. My city has seen unprecedented levels of homelessness in the past few years.
Who does the local media interview the most about this? Homeless people? Non-profits organizations trying to help despite lack of resources? Homeless shelters? Addiction services?
Nope; the local chamber of commerce. The focus is always on “oh no the poor people are affecting our businesses!” and never on the people literally dying on our streets. It’s disgusting.

Francophones are not prioritized for employment or political opportunities. Do you know which linguistic group is prioritized for such roles?
Bilinguals.
Do you think a unilingual French speaker would have more opportunities in Canada than a unilingual English speaker?
Of course, people whose first language is French have much higher rates of bilingualism than people whose first language is English, for a myriad of reasons. But I find it illuminating that for all the whining I see from (some) Anglophones about “lack of opportunities because they don’t speak French”, their proposed solutions always focus on stripping Francophones of their rights instead of encouraging French language education for Anglophones. Many countries around the world have huge percentages of their population being able to speak two (or more!) languages, why shouldn’t we strive for that? I see no downsides to increased bilingualism.
I live in New Brunswick, the only officially bilingual province in the Canada, where our unilingual Anglophone premier repeats the same talking points you do about how difficult it is for unilingual Anglophones to advance themselves in our province. All while holding the highest elected title in the province without speaking a lick of French.
Little Music Player is the smallest I could find, clocking in at a whopping 21.7 KB but it might be a bit barebones even for your taste.
A deeper search uncovered Kure Music Player which has a bit more features but hasn’t been updated since 2014. How vital is it that the app be under 1 MB?
Like the other person who replied to me, I just use it as a frontend for FreshRSS and it works fine for that. But now you kinda have me wondering why I never bothered checking out Nextcloud’s RSS, how do you like it?
Fair enough! Feeder is good too, and what I used before ReadYou. I usually just go to my unread articles, scroll all the down to the bottom and then scroll up from there.
