I mean ...thats the problem with Brittany - its kinda vast and overflowing with Neolithic stuff
assuming you're on top of the major stuff like Carnac, Locmariaquer & the major things,
I mean Roche au Fees was a bit of a drive out of the way but 100% worth it
idk where you're staying, huelgoat was also really great, just to walk in the woodlands & see the huge natural rocks

This was a major goal: see Mousa Broch 🏴
a living miracle that a ~2000 y/o tower in the British Isles is still standing basically intact
A long way to go but worth every second
#MosaicMonday with another mosaic treasure from #Ravenna & its the Neoniano Baptistery, built at the end of c4 - early c5
Will post a close up on the central pannel beneath this 🧵👇
detail of the central pannel of the Neoniano Baptistery, curiously similar to the Arian Baptistery we posted earlier today (though this one is earlier in date by around 100 years)
I did similar - early train in, just a day to do it all, and juust 🤏 managed to make it to Classe on a local bus at the end,
(only discovered it at the last minute when i'd bought a joint ticket & was like - hmm that ones not on my list 🤔 )
@ArchaeoIain yep you've got various beasts inbetween there, i tried uploading the video clip i had but mastodon doth protest too much so here's a few exerpts
#HillfortsWednesday with the Ramparts of Humpleton Hill, #Northumberland
Other than the gorgeous views, was a distinct satisfaction getting to climb this as last time we were in the college valley area this is the one major hillfort we didn't get time for
@ArchaeoIain i lose track of the exact definition but is it not quite broad? my understanding was that while it archetypically had a spire that was not a strict requirement
on the bird site the tag has become quite a big tent for all sorts of churchcrawling posts
@thesweetcheat
Yh we visited the Y Bwlwarcau hillfort nearby there, had originally planned to see the original site of the Bodvoc but apparently its a bit disappointing - from what i've read the replica is a rather forlorn hunk of concrete
