Unless you’re baking cakes from scratch for fun or trying to make aesthetically perfect macarons, I just don’t really see a reason to use a scale.

With cup measurements, it’s scoop, level, dump. I hate having to fuss around with getting perfect measurements of ingredients; it’s the second-most boring part of cooking.

I really subscribe to Adam Ragusea’s methodology of “cooking by feel”, and just so happens it aligns with how my own culture treats cooking as well.

Chicken breast is generally measured in “pieces”.

If you’re measuring a whole chicken breast by weight, what are you going to do if a piece exceeds the weight called for in the recipe? Are you just going to cut off the excess bits? And where would those excess bits go? The bin? The freezer, perhaps, but which recipe would call for “just a sliver of chicken”? Would you rather not just keep that excess weight in and have a bit more chicken in your meal just to avoid all the fuss?

I wouldn’t measure chicken at all.

I see your point!

I go entirely by feel most of the time and only use cup/spoon measurements as a first step when I’m making batters or cookie or pizza doughs before adjusting based on how the dough is turning out. At that point it’s less of a measurement tool and more of a scooping tool to me.

Either in the form of Hong Kong milk tea, boba, sweet lemon tea, or plain and unadulterated.

Have you tried reinstalling Spotify without cracking it with SpotX and seeing if you still encounter the issue?

HatchetHaro,
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

If the issue isn’t there after that, we can determine that a fresh install of Spotify is not the problem.

You can then try running SpotX and checking for the issue again; if the issue reappears, SpotX is the problem, or at least the version of SpotX that you’re using.

what scam? the customer wanted them to work on their computer, so they did, and charged the customer accordingly.

@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

what lie? they told the customer the truth from the beginning, and still agreed to the customer’s demands to work on the problem. they agreed to remove all viruses from the peripherals, which they did, because the peripherals were returned to the customer at the end virus-free.

IANAD, but if it’s causing you stress, bro just change your sleeping position, buy one of those gimmick mattresses that specifically has slots for your arm to fall into (like the SONU Sleep System), or just use a buttload of pillows.

Consult a doctor first if that’s cheaper than buying a whole new mattress.

The main thing? Optimization. Mobile games are built for mobile, so naturally, graphical stuff like polygon-count, particle effects, texture resolutions, shadow quality, etc. are all toned down to be able to run smoothly on mobile hardware.

Couple that with the vastly smaller screen sizes and the diminishing returns of graphical power to visuals (e.g. visual jump from low shadows to medium is further than medium to high), and you’re getting a fantastic mobile gaming experience for a tiny fraction of the power consumption.

I think the grand majority of software license purchases are corporate, where companies are willing to shell out a premium to free up labour (and wages) on stuff like in-house tech support.

Even many freelancers shell out for an Adobe subscription, simply because the time they spend on having to learn how to pirate software, how to fix it, and the risk of being sued far outweigh the monetary benefits of piracy.

Even I, with my good amount of experience using pirated software, am slowly making the switch over to FOSS software just to avoid all the delicate details in piracy.

I know downloading/torrenting copies of movies that you don’t own or have a license for is illegal in most countries, but I’m not sure on how legal it is to simply just view them for free on a site like Flixwave.

I really should look more into game theory; that was a fantastic read!

Please, for the love of God, VOTE! (pawb.social)

I don’t like Biden either, but anyone with half a brain knows there are two choices in the 2020 election. If we had a sane voting system, voting third party might be worth it, but as it stands, no one but you knows your favorite candidate exists and unless you want to become their campaign manager that will still be true in...

under normal circumstances, i would be inclined to agree. however, your country’s voting system is anything but normal.

i’m afraid that your view of the available options is nothing more than misguided.

you’re throwing away what little choice you have. you’re pretending to make a statement and pretending to support the party that you vote for, knowing full well that they won’t win.

good luck with trump, my friend; i will be watching in disappointment.

step off the gas. nicknames and numbers can have entirely different cultural contexts.

for me, i’ve never seen “juice” used to refer to jews, nor “88” being used to refer to nazis, and i’ve been on the internet a long time.

when i see “juice”, the first thing i think of is the song by lizzo. “88” is used as a replacement for “bye bye” in cantonese lingo.

plenty of usernames are just random word + year of birth. stop overanalyzing it and chill.

HatchetHaro,
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

man’s actually taking the piss at OP’s use of “empirical” instead of “imperial”

also, i doubt that measurements of data can be imperial or metric; even Bytes themselves are just measurements of 8 bits.

@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

In this context, “whose” works fine, on the basis that almost no other options work at all outside of completely rewriting the question.

I personally would just switch it out for “with” instead; it does slightly reframe the phrase but doesn’t change the question itself.

HatchetHaro,

that’s fair!

Tetris Effect and TETR.IO are unironically the best versions of Tetris out right now.

Tetris Effect not only has amazing visuals, it brought a brand new mechanic (Zone) into the formula that made multiplayer matches suspenseful and exciting to watch again.

TETR.IO is not an officially licensed Tetris game, so legally it’s just a block-stacking game. Still, it currently boasts the best multiplayer system out right now, with a consistently high player count to boot.
