“Land-usage” is such a narrow-minded way to think about the implicit wants and needs of society. You sound like you’ve never been to actual cities, or never got your head far enough out of your arse to actually experience one.

North American suburban sprawl already proves that “enough land for us all to live comfortably” is a terrible way to live sociable lives and drains the economy due to massive swathes of those lands being used for roads and the maintenance of said roads.

I implore you to take a trip to almost any European city, and see for yourself what actual “comfortable living” for most people looks like.

Look, I’m from Hong Kong, and I despise the CCP.

This is nowhere near anything like the CCP.

Doing something productive when you can’t sleep is, like, the most normal thing you can do. You’re fine.

I’m gonna send garbage all over your board with my DT cannon.

I played a Barbarian with the bear aspect (and before that, the gear that granted you double carry capacity), and I still found myself encumbered since I kept looting all the heavy stuff I could sell.

Even after clearing out all the loot, I was still left with a ton of scrolls, potions, poisons, etc. that I was “saving up” for a potentially difficult encounter, all taking up 75% of my carry capacity.

It’s certainly a way to discourage hoarding and encourage you to use those consumables, especially since BG3 has an end, but I wish there’s a better method for it.

I have basically the same take from my years of raiding and leading in ESO (still top Argonian DPS babyyyyyyy), and it has also given me an unparalleled intuition when it comes to game and combat design, which comes in handy since I’m a game developer.

IMO, what is there in Acts 1 and 2 still more than justify BG3’s price tag and glowing reviews. While I wish Act 3 was more polished (and yes, the ending does feel a tad rushed and underwhelming), what is there in Act 3 is still plenty.

I’m hoping for an expansion for an Act 4 to bridge the gap between Act 3 and the ending, maybe set in the Upper City, with better outcomes for our companions. However, with all the branching choices that already exist in the game, simply the feat of having to create one more story might be a nightmare.

I don’t know, chief; have you seen modern Tetris gameplay?

Generally, they look at their own boards and keep their next piece queue in their periphery vision; the distinct colours of each piece is actually written into modern Tetris guidelines. Advanced players like these also glance at their opponent’s board to determine whether to delay their attacks, both offensively and defensively.

I’d like to plug my favourite Tetris match of all time: Salty Cup S2 - Doremy vs Wumbo

For context, Wumbo always uses the center 4-wide to win many tournaments, and while it was a very effective strategy, it was also extremely cheesy and boring to both watch and play against; he also maintained a “Tetris god” persona where he only ever uploads his wins to his Youtube channel. Doremy, on the other hand, was getting great attention for his flashy and fun Tetris plays, never shying away from uploading videos from his losses. Doremy also caught Wumbo editing out his losses from his Twitch VODs. All this culminated in a rivalry, and in this matchup, it was the underdog versus the overpowered villain. So while this Tetris match isn’t as flashy and fast as the more recent ones, it is definitely one of the most memorable.

You can disagree and claim the contrary without being a dick.

That sounds like an underlying mental issue. I highly recommend seeking a therapist!

Hong Kong. It depends on the establishment.

In big Cantonese restaurants, tea is the very first thing you have to choose, and you are expected to know what tea varieties there are. They then brew and bring you the tea in a white porcelain pot, and can top it up with water upon request (or do it yourself since water is always served alongside the tea). I generally like 鐵觀音, but my dad prefers 普洱. The tea is unsweetened, and if you ask for it sweetened or put sugar in it, well idk what happens but you’d probably get laughed at and kicked out.

In smaller diners, you often can pick the type of tea you want from a menu, though those are often not traditional Chinese teas, and are hot and sweetened by default, though you can always ask for it unsweetened or iced. Milk tea is always available (I can only assume under threat of public boycott). Depending on the diner, various fruit teas would also be available.

By that logic, “scuba” should be pronounced scuh-ba, and “laser” should be pronounced lah-seer.

Also “jee” is also how you say the letter “G”.

Gin, Germany, giraffe, gypsy, gib, giblet. Raising examples of words that start with hard and soft Gs is absolutely pointless when both exist and are equally valid.

Why are people arguing about how an acronym is pronounced in the English language anyways? Who gives a shit? When you point out a “rule” in English, there will always be exceptions, many exceptions, to that rule. Even English doesn’t even agree with English: “entree” means appetizer in Europe but main course in the US.

So why do you care so much?

HatchetHaro,
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It’s pronounced however the fuck you want to pronounce it.

I like to pronounce it “jif” because gin, gentle, Germany, gypsy. Others like to pronounce it “gif” because gift, good, game, girl.

Don’t pull any bullshit reasons like “it’s not pronounced jraphics”, because if that argument holds any water, JPEG is jay-feg, scuba is scuh-ba, and laser is lah-seer.

The creator calls it “jif” and wants others to call it “jif”. I don’t give a shit; if some people want to call it “gif”, that’s up to them and I’m not stopping them. English is not a prescriptive language; pronunciations will always differ according to origins and regions and accents and generations. I will not misunderstand you if you pronounce it “gif”, and you will not misunderstand me if I say “jif”.

Such a dumb argument that never holds up.

Just popping in to say that if you enjoy the game and if you are financially able to, buy the game properly to support the developers, especially Larian Studios.

Many users would pay to have a subjectively better user experience. Sync was originally made for Reddit and had all that development time before Rexxit happened, and therefore, even after switching over to Lemmy, Sync is a more polished experience for many people compared to the FOSS alternatives.

I use Liftoff and Connect myself, and have never tried Sync. However, when Boost becomes available I’d love to try that out as well, as that was my Reddit app of choice.

Well, I had mine for quite a few years now. All it takes, though, is one report from standing around too long in a starter zone.
