me, putting up a new side gate: oh cool I'll just use these fixings from the previous gate, they look new.
drills holes in new post to match exactly
oh, these holes in the brick are flogged out and someone had just banged these screws in with a hammer. Never mind, I'll go to my big box of concrete fixings for some new ones.
there are no new ones of the correct size in the box
kid wants to do an overnight hiking trip. I am perusing the latest in dehydrated meal technology and it looks far superior to the absolute dogshit ADF patrol rations, which in the 90s I thought were haute cuisine.
wife has hired an EV for her parents visit next week, experience tells me she will be the one driving it. This might be the turning point in my quest to shift the family car to electric.
@Kels_316@nickzoic if you do get her over the line on getting an EV after this, some electrical retailers offer as low as 8c per kw to get you to charge after midnight. At that point you spend more per km on tyres.
we have a painter doing some painting and he just said "I need to clean and paint all the roof screws on the shed, they're all rusty" to which I said "just paint over them mate, I'll replace the screws when you're done" and he looked like that was the first time he'd thought that was an option.
@jpm@davedave 99% of them are junk. I've bought 3 of them and 2 were useless. You have to hit the forums of the car you need to diagnose and find out what people are using.
having a fucken blinder. Pulled the cabin fan out of the amarok because it has a squeaky bushing, cleaned it up, oiled it, tested it, was giving it a wipe over before I put it back and I dropped it on the driveway and fucked it. Just a $200 part.
well that was a whole thing. Took a trailer load of stuff to storage as my "test drive" for the new steering damper. Damper is great, problem solved. So as per the zero-sum-game that is LR maintenance it sprung a massive leak from the fuel pressure regulator and pumped out about 50l of diesel onto the bruce hwy.
@Kels_316 look I knew EXACTLY why the sump was empty, I just didn’t expect it to empty itself all over the service station when I turned the engine off
old steering damper is fuuuuuucked on the defender so in an effort to reduce the "death wobble" I'm fitting a new one. First check out the state of the old one. 24yrs and half a million km....
