My favourite mug just exploded when I poured hot coffee into it. Thankfully it was on the countertop and I did not get burned but I am sad because it was both beautiful and massive, thus so useful for prolonged writing sessions 😢
Can anyone recommend a good replacement?

@bomkatt indeed. On the bright side my countertop and floor are now sparklingly clean!

Since today the sky is pale grey and continually drizzling I bring some white water forget-me-not (Myosotis Palustris Alba) to cheer the place up.

It has finally stopped raining, although the clouds have not lifted and the wind is gusting gustily. What I need is sunshine and bright colours and if the weather won’t oblige I can at least share some here; this lovely laburnum should do the trick.

Close up of a laburnum frond, with small bright yellow wisteria-like flowers and deep green leaves.

Current weather status: grey and raining as if it might be going out of fashion. Thus I am restarting my daily with a sunlit rhododendron flower to brighten the day up a bit.

Sitting in the garden in the sun with a glass of Rosé & the third Shardlake book, feeling very grateful for such a quiet & lovely (if slightly unkempt) space. I’m taking the next few days as a small restorative break from social media so don’t panic if I don’t post my daily pics.

The first rose of the year has appeared in my flowerbed this morning. It’s called Sweet Dreams which, I feel, makes it a truly excellent omen for the week ahead!

I did not see the shimmering aurora last night but I did find this cardinal beetle wandering about on the comfrey this morning.

There are ravens (possibly nesting) in the Lebanese Cedars at Attingham Park.

It’s Wednesday and, where I am, it is extremely sunny. Have some vibrant and cheery red catchfly in celebration!

The Small Things Spreading Joy: April 2024

Spring has properly sprung and there are so many wondrous, beauteous things to be found in the woods and fields that chasing only one thing to share each day was very difficult. Since April is my birth month I allowed myself the joy of not choosing on a few occasions and, as well as the photos, I bring three videos as a gift to everyone else as I celebrate completing another revolution around the sun!

And I’ve seen my first swifts of the year so my cup of bank holiday joy is overflowing. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures because they absolutely live up to their name and I’m not that good with a camera on moving targets!

Have a Merganser duck at dawn for this bank holiday Monday. You get two photos because I couldn’t decide which one I liked best

A duck with a pointy beak and flat head floating on the river just after dawn. The light, or lack thereof, means that the colours in the ducks plumage aren’t very visible.

I was watching the sky darken over the garden from my bedroom window and not only did I get treated to a aerial extravaganza by the local bats, I then noticed the hedgehog pair trotting about on the lawn and scratching about in the flower beds. Feeling very blessed right now!

On this long weekend I bring you another of my “where is the other one” photos. There are two rabbit kits in this picture, the first one is clearly visible, the second one … not so much. No prize for finding it other than the warm glow of success!

Kizzia,

@wortezimmer small clue: hidden kit is to the left (roughly) of visible kit.

It’s Friday and, if you’re in the UK, tomorrow is the start of a bank holiday weekend. Thus I bring some truly fabulous tulips to celebrate!
