👋Hi, I'm Aaron, nice to meet you!
📽️ I (sometimes) make videos on the internet that vaguely resemble good content.
📸 I also sometimes do little photography experiments.
🐧Of course I run Linux, it's in the name :)
🦣 I wanted to try out Mastodon about 2 years ago, and I ended up here. Never used Birdsite!

"studying" game design is the best :ablobcatbongo:

Windows is made with cobbled together legacy guff

Linux is also made with cobbled together legacy guff

Linux is just made with higher quality cobbled together legacy guff :blobcat3csmirk:

That sounds correct, and is actually pretty interesting, I was mostly just making a bad joke but I appreciate this kind of interesting tidbit :blobcathuggies:

I don't care if Brave is technically more private.

I don't care if ungoogled-chromium is technically better.

I don't care if it becomes less competent than Internet Explorer for modern browsing.

I will NEVER stop using Firefox (or its derivatives).
The free web depends on it.

You are not perfect. If you were, it would mean you are "complete, full, finished, lacking in no way", it would mean you're not human.

Accept that you will never be perfect, because that means you can always improve, you're never done in the world, and you will always have worth. :blobcatcoffee:

I FIXED MY IEMs!!! :ablobcatrainbow:

How, you ask?
All I had to do was take out (yes, take out, it was nasty even on the back side) the little mesh piece inside the tip and clean off all the ear gunk.
It's that simple :blobugh:

its so funny that apple still offers computers with 8 GB of RAM. imagine being like. ah yeah sorry ive just spent $1000 on a brand new computer with a "neural engine", just unboxed it. yeah. but yeah sorry, i cant see the page you just sent me. no no its because i have to use lynx as my browser on this thing. yeah websites are too heavy now to run on a $1000 brand new computer. yeah its weird isnt it

@jk Me on my $200 refurbished buisness desktop I upgraded to 32gb out of necessity looking at $1000 computers that have a non-upgradable 16gb of ram :blobcat_thisisfine:

The fact that people say their dream job is "YouTuber" is ridiculous. It's like if a musician were to say they want to be a professional "Spotifyer" or "Bandcamper".

Linux_in_a_Bit,
@Linux_in_a_Bit@linuxrocks.online avatar

@gabek
"Videographer" is better but it's probably not used because it implies working for somebody...
Just ignore the fact that YouTubers basically work for YouTube and have terrible average pay and job stability compared to other video creation related jobs.

:ablobfoxbongo: Ready to learn how basic lossless compression works in one post?

This is an example of an example sentence in an encryption program.

1="an " 2="example " 3="is " 4="en" (note the spaces)
Th3312of 12s4t4ce in 14cryption program.

Now shrink it and compare it to the original:
{1an 2example 3is 4en}Th3312of 12s4t4ce in 14cryption program.
This is an example of an example sentence in an encryption program.

See how it's 5 characters shorter? Imagine that but applied to a whole book.
It often gets easier the larger the thing your compressing is (but not always)

Note that 'program' and the end of 'encryption' are very unique and can't be assigned numbers without making the sentence longer. This is referred to as a high entropy, basically meaning they are very information dense.
Also note how hard it is to decode our 'compressed' sentence. This is why you have to extract a compressed file.

Now for your homework:
Fit this post in Twitter's character limit :blobcat3csmirk:

    :blobcatthink: Or you could look at some of the other consumer-friendly Linux alternatives...
    https://tuxedocomputers.com/
    https://system76.com/
    https://us.starlabs.systems/
    https://configurelaptop.eu/
    https://slimbook.es/
    I've been looking recently and I'm liking the look of Tuxedo's laptops (quality is supposedly excellent), but it's out of my price range.
    I'll probably end up going with NovaCustom for a few reasons...
