My parents are well off and my dad specifically really takes pride in the fact that my siblings and I will inherit their wealth. He also claims to be concerned with the environment and made a huge deal about us turning off lights when leaving rooms and is adamant that we recycle all the plastic we use.
Explaining that lights use barely any electricity and that our area is powered 100% by renewables does not matter to him. Explaining that most plastic “recycling” ends up in landfills or burned does not matter to him. Explaining to him that EVs are still really fucking bad for the environment and that if he really cared he would take transit/bike does not matter to him.
Idk what my point is other then, in my experience, most boomers people that claim to care, don’t give a fuck about protecting the environment if it means making even the smallest sacrifices to their way of life. They want all the satisfaction of being “someone who cares” without actually putting the effort it. Obviously I’m projecting my own experience on to this comic, but these type of people deserve to be ridiculed. Hypocrisy and ignorance aren’t going to fix themselves.
Interestingly the COVID lockdowns might be what launched the 15min city conspiracy into the mainstream. Climate deniers saw articles about how the covid lockdowns reduced emissions and warped that into the theory that 15 min cities are a plot to restrict personal movement.

I’m not sure if this is the right community for this question, but it says “no stupid question” so here goes. Yes actually, I think you literally die if you don’t sleep long enough. After 72 hours or so you start hallucinating but who knows if those hallucinations affect productivity? Only one way to find out.
No offense but your arguments are not rational. You don’t need to “get in front of visual obstructions” if you’re following at a safe distance. Speed is not limited simply because “faster means more damage”, it’s limited because faster speeds means you have less time to react.
Then follow at a safer distance. I’m sorry but this is driving school 101. We can complain about pickup trucks being hard to see past but it’s not like you can see past buses, or delivery vans, or other large trucks. Aggressively passing a vehicle because you can’t see past it it moronic.
You should always be leaving enough space between you and the vehicle in front of you to allow you to stop in case of an emergency. Even a convertible that you can see perfectly overtop of might have to stop unexpectedly and if you haven’t left enough space you will rear end them.
If you don’t feel safe following a vehicle you can’t see past, it’s probably because you’re tailgaiting. Stop tailgaiting! And I know some of you are tailgaiting because it seems like 50% of drivers on highways tailgait.
Dismissing youtubers for being youtubers reminds me of people who dismiss all animation because “cartoons are for kids” or whatever. When I think of “influencer” I think of an instagram model who pushes products on their followers. “Youtuber” includes many content creators who devote hours into researching, writing, filming, and editing high quality, entertaining, and educational content.
Jenny is on the low end of the spectrum in terms of basically all of those categories (I love her though), but channels like CaptainD, Contrapoints, Philosophy Tube and Folding Ideas create extremely high quality content that (in my opinion) surpasses educational content coming out of any studio.
tl;dr: Dismissing youtube channels as “influencers” is narrow minded and may prevent you from enjoying content you would otherwise find to be of extremely high quality.
Well, By telling Biden “it is okay, you will be voted no matter what” you encourage him to be his worst.
I don’t disagree with this. The point is that Trump being elected will be much worse for non-whites and LGBT than Biden.
Going into speculation, I don’t think not voting for Biden will make dems shift further left. I see so many comments talking about how Biden’s stance on Palestine might lose him the election but absolutely no evidence that shifting his stance would help him win. Leftists are a small minority and I see no evidence that Biden has anything to gain from appeasing the left. My guess would be that shifting left could lose dems the support of many “moderates” or whatever the fuck they call themselves.
If you want people to agree with you then you need to convince them that sharing your point of view benefits them. I see absolutely no evidence that not voting for Biden will benefit anybody on the left, but I see plenty of evidence it will harm the left. Going on about how voting for Biden is bad is just straight up fucking obnoxious when you fail to follow it up with any logical alternative. “Sending Biden a message” is not a good argument when you fail to prove that he has anything to gain by listening.
What makes you think the dems “deserving” the votes has absolutely anything to do with this? LGBQT+ people be trying to exist and you’re asking them if Biden “deserves” their vote?
