MrPoopyButthole,

My girlfriend and I saw Fall Guys and it’s a great movie!

We originally stumbled upon the Parmount Plus series “Action” about the modern history of Hollywood stunts and loved it. It follows the company that made the John Wick movies, same people made Fall Guy.

The show actually had behind the scenes for Fall Guy stunts pre-release and it was wicked cool. I think part of the flop is from bad marketing. I’d wager nobody knows that show exists and their trailers DO NOT make it clear that all the stunts are practical.

The whole movie is meant to be an homage to classic stunts and they actually broke the record for a car roll. I think if they’d found a clever way to showcase all that intention with the marketing a lot more people would have seen it.

MrPoopyButthole,

It’s 100% cool to not care about “rap beef”.

The reason this stuff is in the news is because Kendrick is a very influential artist calling out patterns of child abuse and sexual assault in the industry.

Yes, it all came to light through “diss tracks”, but a lot of the accused behavior has been publicly visible for years and simply ignored.

It’s getting media attention because the world has seen people abuse their fame so many times and we still let it happen. Now a modern artist is emphasizing that the most famous “rapper” is an offender and that the industry has these problems everywhere.

MrPoopyButthole,

I would NEVER condone violence. But hypothetically, as a united States citizen, the most significant thing a person could do is eliminate two Supreme Court Justices.

It’s the only part of our government with ZERO balance of power, and it is currently using its power to change settled interpretations of the law.

MrPoopyButthole,

OK but why is my state mandated minimum insurance nearly $90 a month for a Toyota Prius that I only drive like 30 miles per week?

My liability only plan was $55 in 2018.

I’m over 30 years old with no tickets or accidents on my record.

Maybe the whole data farming thing is being used as an excuse also, but this is bullshit all up and down.

MrPoopyButthole,

100% Has happened many times. Often those things are later re-discovered. But who knows?

How many reporters around the world have had a car spontaneously explode, or suffered sudden-onset jumpeez near a window?

How many scientists and researchers have had significant breakthroughs or discoveries about hazards of waste or energy efficiency, only for their work to suddenly be labeled falsified and personal reputations dragged through the mud?

MrPoopyButthole,

So what, you can just teleport back!

Easily made up for by the ability to cut transportation time from tardiness.

Anyone know a good mouse with a lot of side buttons, that isn't an MMO style? (lemmy.world)

My Razer Naga Pro died and I’m absolutely not buying another one for what it costs. But I also can’t seem to find a replacement with the same sort of layout this one had. I’ll link a picture, but I’m essentially looking for a mouse that has a lot of side buttons but still has a place for me to rest my thumb without...

MrPoopyButthole,

The Logitech G604 has been my champion

…logi.com/…/360036534033-Getting-Started-G604

It’s immediate predecessor definitely felt more rugged, in terms of build quality, but it’s still the only mouse I can use.

At first the price will probably be listed high, but they go on sale all the time. I gotten mine and its previous model somewhere between $40-$60.

MrPoopyButthole,

I love it when companies think the (often invented) number of pirated copies has any meaningful correlation to lost revenue.

My girlfriend and I have one Nintendo Switch. We share it. But the only modern Nintendo games I play are the Legend of Zelda series. Since Breath of the Wild, when a new one came out, we’d buy it right away, and then I’d end up placing a copy on my PC to play so we could play together.

If Nintendo thinks I’m gonna buy a game twice just to play at the same time as my partner, when we only have the one console, think again. If Nintendo thinks someone who only likes one game is gonna buy a whole second console, they’re out of their minds.

What I do own is a Steam Deck, because Steam is a platform first and I can play my games on my fancy PC at home and on multiple devices. My Steam Deck can even play non-steam games great too!

The second Nintendo makes a PC store that let’s me play their games on my other hardware, I’ll start buying that second copy of all our games solely for the convenience of it. Until then they can suck an egg.

MrPoopyButthole,

Depends on length. Fun fact: in most Spanish-speaking countries, only the first letter of the first word is capitalized for things like movie titles and posters. Learning that really made me think twice about how trigger-happy I get with capitalization.

MrPoopyButthole,

I always felt like Flowers For Algernon was such a compelling book and the only movie i know of is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. You would think it was a comedy based on that movie.

MrPoopyButthole,

Damn, even after his sick new sneaker line?

MrPoopyButthole,

Robin Williams had a degenerative neurological disorder and didn’t want to live through the decline. Common misconception as media speculation was “funny man sad” long before the family shared any details.

MrPoopyButthole,

I’d have to agree that anger isn’t usually it’s own emotion, it’s a specific expression of fear or sadness. There are always exceptions I think, but usually there’s more to it.

My favorite thing is to express those things through humor. It’s not for everybody. If you’re not funny enough you can just sound like an idiot or an asshole, as I can. Other times it enables you to attack the root of the problem in a digestible way that doesn’t make a person feel attacked.

MrPoopyButthole,

I hope they both go down when Team Rocket hears about this

MrPoopyButthole,

I think accessibility options in games are fantastic and as long as they’re optional you can do no wrong.

I think the best thing, that’s still not as common yet, is the ability to custom map game controls within its settings. Steam’s own software can do this pretty well, but there should be support for that in every game up front.

Not only does it make it easier for people missing limbs or dexterity to play games, but it makes it easier for any person to tweak the controls for their play style.

I really hope we see more support for features like this because they can be so useful to everybody.

MrPoopyButthole,

Oh boy, yeah, a lot more came out about it. There’s actually been a lot over the years, but a few years ago a pretty serious documentary came out about it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaving_Neverland

MrPoopyButthole,

As others have said, this could be symptomatic of something like ADHD.

I didn’t get diagnosed until 18 and it changed the game. I was very hesitant to start stimulants because of misinformation and stigma, but my doctor corrected a lot of that and it’s changed my life.

Doctor Russell Barkley has been at the forefront of ADHD research for decades and has a YouTube channel that’s packed with useful information. If what you see resonates with you, I’d talk to your doctor about it.

MrPoopyButthole,

While it isn’t magic, there is a newfound pressure on the Democratic party to finally break some meaningful ground.

Unfortunately one of the biggest obstacles had been the radically conservative Supreme Court.

Simple arithmetic tells us that if just two Supreme Court Justices were to suddenly disappear from our reality, and re-emerge in another, the court would lean more progressive to allow debt relief, bodily autonomy, and hopefully more.

While there are many ways to suddenly remove people from our plane of existence, there’s no proven way to have them re-emerge in another. Obviously it would be illegal and deeply unethical to suggest such removal without the safe relocation to another plane.

So I guess just learn to kiss fascist ass 🤷‍♂️

MrPoopyButthole,

CLR is a cleaning product most popular as a spray. Yellow bottle. It’s really effective, and significantly safer than most harsh cleaning products.

Wet & Forget can be great for a lot of tile or glass showers, but it does seem overpriced.

You can also get little cleaning pods that hang into the toilet bowl to prevent build-up from happening.

Avoid the tablets that go in the toilet tank. They can do real damage to your plumbing and it’s not worth it.

Last advice is only helpful if you own your home, but upgrade your exhaust fan. The humidity can cause dust and such to buildup faster.

MrPoopyButthole,

Did Vivienne Westwood just buy their first 3D printer?

MrPoopyButthole,

I want to combat all the people saying “um, actually things are getting better”

What they mean to say is “The largely meaningless or deliberately misleading metrics the government uses to make its own report card say things are going great!”

Everybody keeps talking about how the “economy” is so strong. That just means the stock market is doing well and owners of capital are happy.

Meanwhile, the US has the highest rate of homelessness in its recorded history. Worth noting that the way numbers are reported for things like homelessness, unemployment, and the like are very intentionally designed to under-report.

Local, state, and federal government all have a long history of changing the method of reporting/calculating those metrics during a term in office so they can say “unemployment dropped 30% under my watch!” When all they really did was not count 30% of the people previously counted.

Yes, wages are finally rising, and it has nothing to do with the government. It’s entirely the work of unions and organization of labor to raise wages, and it’s still got a long way to go.

The best thing that anyone can do is vote for better representation at every opportunity.

The best thing that not everyone can do is talk to a doctor if you have signs of depression or other mental illness. Yes, it’s possible to have those things brought on by circumstance, and no, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to do anything about it.

If you can’t afford doctor’s visits like that, look up non-profit health care organizations. You may be lucky enough to have real, free Healthcare options available through places like Good Samaritan.

And don’t forget to let yourself acknowledge the REAL progress of the world. We’re seeing rapid development and insight on treatments for cancers, dementia, new vaccines, renewable tech, and computational efficiency.

There are many broken systems to overcome, but even still there are incredible humans building the foundations for an incredible future if we keep working at it. Maybe we can help make sure Gen Alpha gets a fair shot.

MrPoopyButthole,

Shows like that are still happening.

The real issue is that instead of 5-15 channels, there are dozens-hundreds, plus a dozen streaming service, and intellectual property is constantly pinging back and forth between them all.

No media has a reliable “home” you can consistently access it from. And when it does you still run into the discoverability issue. So many shows are made that you can’t reasonably scroll through all of them, so personal recommendations and algorithms ultimately dictate what we find.

If you want unusual and stand-out sci-fi then I’d recommend Twin Peaks: The Return, assuming you’ve seen Twin Peaks.

Also the show “Dark” on Netflix is incredible.

I still have a cue of newer stuff I haven’t gotten to because there’s so much to try.

I think what we’ve really lost is the social element. When FAR fewer things were on, and everyone had to “tune in” to see new episodes, it meant a ton more people would be watching the same thing at the same time.

Now the default has become everything on demand, and released in full seasons at a time. “Dark” is actually from several years ago, but became big in the US just a few years ago, and I just found it last year.

The viewing and Fandom experiences are just more fragmented and scattered now.
