My brain went dyslexic for a second. At first I read this as “Bernie Sanders arrested in suspected arson attack”, and had to do a serious double take.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, and I hope I never have to see yours again…

I meant what I said. Nobody is above the law, and the impeachment process is not a replacement for criminal prosecution. Kindly take your opinion, and shove it up your ass where it belongs…

I understand that’s what you think. You’re just wrong.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’m pretty sure he has already done that.

Sorry, he has said so many moronic things it is hard for me to keep track of the specifics anymore 🙃

When Biden loses in November we will all know why. People will continue to bitch, moan, and complain that everyone needs to hold their nose and vote for the lesser of two evils. But the reality is that approach has never worked, and only serves to further increase voter apathy.

Donald Trump is going to win precisely because it is necessary for him to avoid the consequences of his actions. He will do whatever is necessary to fight to that end, and he will ultimately be successful because failure is not an option.

The Democratic establishment has not truly internalized this. They do not seriously care about winning enough to stop playing politics, and start winning votes. They feel entitled to our votes because they believe we are a captive audience. They believe we have no other choice. But the fact of the matter is that is not good enough to muster the fervent level of support that is going to be necessary in November.

We will continue to hear over and over again that the polls don’t matter. Do not believe your lying eyes. Fixate on the bread and media circus of the Jerry Springer-esque saga of Trump’s most current legal drama, all the while they continue to give him billions of dollars in free advertising. We have seen this all before, and we know how it ends. Donald Trump will be President again, and we can all thank the same pretentious, elitist, self-entitled horse shit that the Democratic party has been shoveling down our fucking throats for years.

They are bought and paid for by their corporate overlords, and the open secret has always been that they would rather give in to total fascism than allow the Overton window to be drug even one fucking inch to the left.

Big surprise, she gets laughed at for .05 seconds and instantly gets triggered. Typical bully behavior. She has no problem dishing it out, but the minute it starts to come back at her she wants to be a fucking martyr. This permanent victim mentality is the textbook exemplification of 21st century conservatism.

Event Horizon.

I know it gets a bad rap, but it is a cult classic in my book. The most perfect symmetry of science fiction and body horror since Alien(s). Add on top of that a fantastic cast, a mildly campy vibe, and it somehow manages to hold up well even today in my opinion. Even though it scared the fuck out of me as a kid, I have a weird nostalgia for it now.

I was going to ask you what school you went to where they were allowed to show that, but then I remembered my private christian middle school took us all to see the Passion of the Christ at the movie theater for a fucking field trip 😂

There was so much I never knew about the production of the movie until the guys at Red Letter Media did a Re:View about it. I was kinda bummed that Mike and Jay didn’t like the movie, but it was cool to learn the history, warts and all.

I keep holding out hope that someday it might be remade or perhaps there could be a sequel from a competent team that enjoyed the first movie. I am generally against remake or reboot culture, but Event Horizon just always seemed like a perfect candidate for it to me.

It’s also easier to make than cannabis.

You are aware that Cannabis is a plant, and therefore naturally occurring, yes? It was literally on the planet for hundreds of millions of years before modern homosapiens.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

I have personally grown, sold, and been around commercial Cannabis cultivation my entire adult life. We are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Not all animals have the same type of endocannabinoid receptors as homosapiens. However, plenty of animals choose to consume Cannabis plants in nature where they are available, and have not been eradicated. I fail to see what any of this has to do with your initial point though. The process of drying Cannabis is not what “activates” THC. That process is called decarboxylation. I’m not aware of any animals that can get stoned simply by eating Cannabis before it has gone through the process of decarboxylation through heating. However, your initial statement was that Cannabis needed to go through some kind of specific process for it to produce THC in the same way that fruit must go through fermentation to produce alcohol. This is simply not the case. The process of selective breeding is what has increased the THC content of Cannabis, but even wild Cannabis plants contain a myriad of different cannabinoid compounds.

@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Which still makes no fucking sense considering that you do not “make” Cannabis. It is naturally occurring plant-life. There is an ADDITIONAL chemical process that is necessary to turn fruit into alcohol. While that fermentation process can occur without human intervention, it is still an additional process, which is not fundamentally necessary for Cannabis to be intoxicating…

Last point, and yes it is nitpicky. Marijuana is really a pejorative piece of terminology, and is not taxinomically accurate.

Riccosuave,
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

The main reason you would not smoke undried Cannabis is because it is hard to ignite. It certainly can be done though. Generally I would suggest using a vaporizer for fresh Cannabis though. The other reason is that the drying process causes the further oxidation of the trichome heads which increases the ratio of CBN to THC leading to a more balanced effect.

fermenting sugars is not a chemical process, but a biological process

If you’re going to be pedantic, at least be accurate. It certainly is a chemical process. That process is facilitated by biological organisms, and would therefore more aptly be called a biochemical process I suppose. Anyways, as riveting as this exchange has been, I think I’ve made my points effectively. Hopefully I have been able to shed some light on some layman’s Cannabis science for you. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. Always happy to help educate 👍

I worked in the Cannabis industry for 15 years in both the legal and gray markets. I think Cannabis should be legal, and I have personally worked towards making that possible for my entire adult life because the damage caused by locking people in cages for possession of a plant is unquantifiable. HOWEVER, I think it is also important to understand the legitimate risks and adverse effects of Cannabis consumption.

I have known about Cannabis Hypermesis Syndrome for many years, have experienced some of the early symptoms first hand, and have witnessed other people who have gone through its effects. I have also experienced many of the other issues of long term Cannabis consumption such as chronic insomnia, REM sleep dysfunction, and appetite suppression. These issues are very real, and it is important to provide proper education to people so they know what the risks can be from chronic consumption.

There are also legitimate links to schizo-affective disorders being triggered in people who have those latent or genetic predispositions. There is also the long term danger from pesticide exposure and consumption. The regulations around that are not as strict and universal as they need to be, especially for products that are being vaporized or smoked. Companies will do anything to make a buck, and it can be an incredibly unforgiving industry that is either feast or famine.

Please people, do appropriate research. Understand what you are consuming. Make sure you are dealing with reputable distributors, and push for more common sense regulations including full federal legalization so we can do better scientific research. Lastly, everything in moderation including moderation. Listen to your body, and make sure you are respecting it by responsibly modulating what you are putting in it.

Edit: Accidentally a word

What I was referring to specifically was the pre-state legalization era. When I started in the medical market it was still a legal gray area at best, thus the “gray market” moniker. I started before the dispensary proliferation, and things were still very much word of mouth.

I don’t see anything wrong with the list at the bottom. That seems to check a lot of accurate boxes.

Obamacare Is in Grave Danger, Again (www.nytimes.com)

In 2017, Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress tried to eviscerate the A.C.A. and almost succeeded in passing a bill that the Congressional Budget Office estimated would have left 22 million more Americans uninsured by 2026. There’s every reason to believe that if the G.O.P. wins control of Congress and the White House in...

The suffering and the debt is the point. It makes people compliant workers, and there is massive profit being made off of human suffering. The United States is fundamentally an immoral nation being propped up by the stupidity of the white evangelical working class.
