@Simon@calckey.social

Consummate tinkerer living in sunny #Brighton UK.

By day I am one of those people that "does something with computers".

(The #baking of bread may also be involved.)

By night I may be found wandering around #NoMansSky or #ElderScrollsOnline, building stupid things in both.

At the weekends I'm either freeing the magic blue smoke from electronica or tinkering with something until it breaks.

#EFF and #ORG supporter.

Had a #PGP key since 2006 and no-one has ever used it.

🤔 Mmm I keep getting some kind of error when clicking on my "Timeline". Not sure why, tried Vivaldi, Edge and Firefox, getting the same error on all of them

Simon,

@JungleGeorge

It may be similar to this issue @bloodwrites had yesterday.

https://calckey.social/notes/9dtsszixf7

tl:dr change the layout to 'Deck' (I think that was the solution).

Hello Calckey :calckey:

Now I know what clips are for (another user described them as curated shareable bookmarks) I'm seeing potential. I'm seeing a lot of potential.

Fic TBR
Rec lists
Art collections

...just to start.

Simon,

@bloodwrites

How do they work?

Simon,

@bloodwrites

aah, gotcha.

That's neat.

Simon,

@bloodwrites

I just signed out.

There is quite a lot of stuff on your calckey homepage:

As always, saw many disposable vapes on the ground while walking the dog this morning. Decided to pick a couple up (with a poo bag!) and see if they have rechargeable lithium batteries in them.

Simon,

@blogmywiki

Wish I could find some.

😔

Simon,

@blogmywiki

I bought a pile of 20 boards for a tenner with the intention to go Wombling but haven't seen any around Brighton yet.

Just made my first* Sourdough starter.

  • Apparently, I attempted one about 10 years ago, and the resulting loaf was deemed a success.

I can't remember baking one though. :)

Simon,

@voidspace

'Bread Pitt' lives in my fridge these days.

Probably need to start baking again tbh.

Simon,

@renatafernandes

On my 'Droid phone, Feeder.

On my laptop, whatever is in Thunderbird Mail or Vivaldi Browser.

This evening: FINALLY got my head around Bosch's proprietary library for the BME688 sensor, which means I can add air quality to my sensor board!

This is the main reason I started this project, because my heating and hot water is a coal fire with a back boiler, I wanted to see how much the air quality in the room is affected when the fire is lit. Got it all working just in time for summer!

Simon,

@sarahdal

You would need to add that library first

#include <bsec2.h>

Then I think you could assign a variable to them:

IAQ_signal = String(output.signal)
IAQ_accuracy = String((int) output.accuracy)

Sorry I cant be more help than that, I'm a bit of a 'try everythng til it works' kinda coder.

😆

Simon,

@sarahdal

Once you have the library, you will be able to get to whatever that sensor is outputting.

Happy hacking!

Simon,

@sarahdal

For the MQTT bit ?

Yeah that will probably work.

You'll still need to reference the lib tho to get the 'output.signal'.

Disclaimer MQTT is not my bag at all.

Simon,

Not sure you need the case statement tbh.

That looks like it is looping through all of the sensors available outputs.

Something like:
BSEC_OUTPUT_IAQ.output.signal
BSEC_OUTPUT_IAQ.output.accuracy

Should reference the explicit output you want.

Simon,

Sorry:

# Set sensor variables
IAQ_signal = String(BSEC_OUTPUT_IAQ.output.signal)
IAQ_accuracy = String((int) BSEC_OUTPUT_IAQ.output.accuracy)
Simon,

Hope you get it working !

Maybe @fast_code_r_us could chip in ?

Simon,

I'm at a bit of a dead end now.

I've added all of the Bosch libraries and can't even get the example to compile without errors.

Sorry but I don't how where to go from here.

😔

Simon,

@sarahdal

aah, alls well that ends well !

Glad you got it going !

Simon,

@sarahdal

whaaat the actual fuck !

Simon,

@sarahdal

No worries, didn't really do much.
