Voytrekk, to technology in A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

That will rely on businesses moving away from Windows. That is where they make a ton of their money with Enterprise licenses and Office 365 subscriptions.

Voytrekk, to climate in Biden Administration Tightens Mileage Standards to Buoy E.V.s | The new rule requires automakers to achieve an average of 65 miles per gallon across all models by 2031.
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

The standards will also require heavy-duty pickup trucks, such as the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, and large vans, such as Amazon delivery vans, to reach 35 miles per gallon by 2035, up from 18.8 miles per gallon today

This is a step in the right direction, but it would be better if the standards for passenger cars would include all consumer vehicles.

That’s the real reason. They collect plenty of tax from the gas pumps, so they needed another way. The other option would be toll roads, which I haven’t seen here in Ohio.

Voytrekk, to technology in United Airlines passengers to see targeted ads on seat-back screens
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Can you turn the screens off? I haven’t flown in 5 years, but I just watched stuff off of my tablet instead.

Voytrekk, to news in Christian lifeguard doesn't have to raise the Pride flag. But he objects to making subordinates do it
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

I wish my wife was making that much as a lifeguard. Most places around me pay less than $10 per hour.

Voytrekk, to hardware in US sets stage for antitrust probes into Microsoft, OpenAI and Nvidia
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Microsoft, sure.

Have the other two really done anything that would cause this inquiry? Not saying they haven’t, it’s just less obvious to me.

Voytrekk, to news in China wants to recruit military pilots from the U.S. and its allies to strengthen Chinese air power, bulletin warns
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

They don’t want them for raw numbers, they have plenty of people who are able to become pilots. They need the intel to help catch them up to and counter western countries. This is something that has been ongoing forever, just the countries change.

Voytrekk, to wow in Blizzard Confirms World Bosses Cannot Drop Mounts Directly in MoP Remix
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

So much for farming Sha and Galleon. At least the mounts are purchasable.

Voytrekk, to pcgaming in God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn coming to Steam, requires PlayStation Network Account
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

This is why I haven’t bought Ghosts of Tsushima yet, despite being interested in it.

Voytrekk, to linuxmemes in Switched to linux before it became mainstream
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

I left for Linux because Windows bad, stayed on Linux because Linux good.

Voytrekk, to games in Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown | Release Date Trailer
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

12 Sept for those who don’t want to watch the trailer.

I’m hopeful for this game. I enjoyed the first TDU back in the day, and I’d love to get into this one too. I’m going to hold off until other players get a chance to play it to avoid getting burned.

Voytrekk, to linux in could you explain the difference between using these 2 commands to open a port? iptables and ufw
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Both are fine. Ufw has a set of applications that are defined in terms of what ports they need for convenience. You wouldn’t have to know that 3389 is for RDP, you could just allow RDP. Ufw ultimately modifies the iptables, it is just another interface for interacting with it.

Voytrekk, to hardware in The ROG Ally X leaks, with twice the battery of the original and way more RAM
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Bazzite has Ally images available. ChimeraOS should work as well. I don’t have an Ally, so no idea on how well they work.

Voytrekk, to technology in ChatGPT Answers Programming Questions Incorrectly 52% of the Time: Study
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Just like answers on the Internet, you have to read the output and not just paste it blindly. I find the answers are usually useful, even if they aren’t completely accurate. Figuring out the last bit is why we are paid as programmers.

Voytrekk, to games in IGN Entertainment acquires Eurogamer, GI, VG247, Rock Paper Shotgun and more
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Are there any other major publications not part of that group now? Seems like a blatant monopoly.
