“The last few decades of American housing have passed through several phases of a vicious policy cycle. There may be nothing more urgent than ending it.” https://www.liberalcurrents.com/the-vicious-cycle-of-american-housing/

@adamgurri Where's "rent control" among well-intentioned but destructive housing policies?

“Recent times are not just a record of failed movements. Rather, our age has included some tremendous successes in progressive organizing.” https://www.liberalcurrents.com/how-movements-win/

“The data is clear that producing more housing units leads to lower rents. This has been the case in Minneapolis, Sacramento, Austin, and many other cities across the country. It can happen in New York City too.” https://www.liberalcurrents.com/a-city-of-liberalism-means-becoming-a-city-of-yes/

@adamgurri wow. that's... a lot packed into two paragraphs. Is that from the book or from a summary?

I write about the administrative state, grounding it in Malcolm X’s early childhood experience of its abuses to get a sense of the stakes. In thinking about how to get its benefits but mitigate its abuses, neither a spoils system nor an all powerful chief executive are the path. Plain old liberal democracy with an independent civil service is the best approach https://www.americanpurpose.com/articles/a-bureaucrat-by-any-other-name/
