@adamgurri He's one of those pro-immigration-but people who I've seen multiple people cite as a reason they came to believe something negative about immigrants (e.g. that we are criminals) but never as a reason they came to believe something positive (e.g. that we deserve path to citizenship).
The problem with interbranch politics in America is that Congress does not act like an institution with its own interests. The presidency does, and the Court does, but Congress's enemies are largely internal, and the median member cares only about individual electoral interests, not the branch's interests.
@Jonathanglick That's right. But not worth much. It takes all of Congress and the president together to check the authority of the Court, not just the Senate alone. The Senate does have leverage over the president in terms of appointments and things though, and does make use of that.
