@markhburton I don't agree and I think maintaining this ideology that designing the world based on a colonial empire such as Russia doesn't make it better.
countries should be free to join whatever union or alliances they wish, certainly when they want to get away from historical, generational grip of bullies that need a polarized world just to have/find a reason to exist.
@markhburton because the world in 2023 doesn't and shouldn't need to be designed based on the nightmares of 40 years ago.
The so called US imperialism? I would choose it without an ounce of hesitation instead of "balancing" the world by enabling Russian colonialism to serve a division of the world that should have died with the USSR.
Ukraine is free to join Europe, NATO and "the west", it's called sovereignty.
@markhburton the idea that, we shouldn't "feed Russian paranoia" by abiding to a non existent threat to Russia because Russia is paranoid and a failed corrupt regime shouldn't even govern how the world works in 2023 and sadly, Ukraine is alone fighting it while we slow drop help instead of teaching Russia the lesson it needs to get to back off.
You don't solve the bullying by bowing to the demands of the bully. want peace? Russia is free to stand down and back off. Ukraine is not at war.
@markhburton you know what's a curious reading? the so called anti imperialist westerners that only see imperialism from the USA/NATO/EU bloc but totally and radically fail to see that Russia itself, the entire history of Russia is the essence of the definition of colonialism.
But that's an imperialism we should get along to "balance" the US?
