I'm heartbroken. My new Music Hall mmf-3.3 turntable failed after two days (power issue)... but I'm getting a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO instead (with the wood grain finish). I think it was the universe telling me "no, you do not want avant-garde, go with something safe and predictable." The situation was extremely well handled by B&H Photo, and the new turntable should arrive tomorrow. #audiophile

I've had time to reflect on Sir Simon Rattle's #Mahler 6th last weekend, and I know what blew me away: it's that it was a European orchestra! Rarely have I heard them live; it's a whole different way of playing. They're like friends casually getting together to make music (only the level of mastery is superlative). Even the way the guy struck the hammer -- kind of hefted it for a second, then rested the head on the floor until it was needed and took a quick, mighty swing... like an executioner.

I think I may have recovered sufficiently from seeing #Dune Part 2 last Friday to see it again. Can I withstand it? Will my head explode? Will I come out of the theatre speaking the Fremen language? Or will I be transformed, and become one of the Fedaykin?
