Ok folks, how pervasive do we think bots / influence accounts are in the fediverse these days? I’m seeing a fair bit more of the reactionary and inflammatory content typical of these recently.

A vote is tactical, not strategic. Biden is actively aiding a genocide. But surely you see the ways in which a Trump presidency would be much, much worse– for people in the US and abroad– than another Biden term? Your vote, by itself, doesn't "solve" resurgent fascism- that's what constructive local action is for! What it CAN potentially do, is make the job a little bit less daunting.
@daniel_meyers That's the thing about the "voting or not" conversation - it implies that it's the only action you have. Theres so much more to do! And most of it is so much more important!
I will say: a night spent at the emergency veterinary hospital is a shitty night. These places are one of the circles of hell, and I really feel for the folks who work here. Dealing with sick and dying animals is hard enough, but emotionally stressed 21st century Americans are positively unhinged. (TWO pets ate dumb stuff, but are going to be OK)

I can't with our local NPR affiliate anymore. The last two times I've turned it on in the car it's been: "Ukrainian anarchist freedom fighters: aren't they a bunch of misguided little silly gooses?!" and today: "Cute AI stuffies to keep the elderly company: what a great gift from our corporate overlords!"
I truly don't understand who is making programming choices over there, or how uncritical they have become on the pivotal issues of our time.
