I'm pretty sure you can set that up with Chocolatey and Task Scheduler. I'm not sure if you can do the same with the Windows Package Manager winget.

The Obama administration declined to try to extradite Assange because they were worried that the case could and would undermine press freedoms in America. The Trump administration started this process because they gave absolutely zero shits about press freedom.

One would hope Biden would follow the lead of his Democrat predecessor and put a stop to this chicanery.

As a citizen of the United States, it is oh so tiring that everyone has given up on taking this disease seriously. We just keep finding out more and more bad bad not good stuff, and everyone keeps acting like it's over and it's no big deal and why would you wear a mask anymore because "what are you, some kind of pussy?"

By being fanatics, they’ve lost any say in politics.

As much as we'd all love for that to be true, their votes still count.

I do think it's well past time that we discussed whether or not it makes sense for people whose position is "we should destroy democracy and instead install an autocratic ruler" should actually be allowed to be involved democratically. I think tolerance of people willing to vote democracy out of existence is a real problem, and at some point it should actually be addressed. Democracy was never intended to be the tool of its own demise.

I don't really disagree. I would hope it's more of an evolution to the next step beyond simple democracy to where more agency and equity is given to many more marginalized people a voice and choice in their governance. We're definitely near a technological level where we could consider direct democracy as opposed to representative, but I'd still hope that enough people are "sane minded" to not wholesale reject the idea of democracy and choice, despite its obvious limitations.

My experience with the Fediverse has only been through Mastodon, through which I struggled to find a community I really gelled with. Either it was supper overwhelming with meme posts or NSFW, or it was too chill to the point of nothing. Or, it was hyperfocused like FOSS/Linux and became uninteresting after awhile. I did a little research a few days ago, and it seems like reddit has grown their userbase upward of 40% since the site redesign in 2017. I think they are banking on most "average" users not even realizing that third party clients or old.reddit even existing. They are more than willing to sacrifice power users who avoid ads for oblivious users who don't.

I think they ran the numbers and went with "We can still make money after pissing off half of our userbase, and we can expect many of the pissed off members to be so addicted they won't actually walk away."

I think they also see this with every major game boycott. Gamers are notoriously unable to stick to their principles and keep paying for games that undermine their "demands" as gamers. While a vocal minority stick to their guns, most gamers who claim to want to boycott games end up buying and playing them. Hogwarts Legacy is a great example of where the boycott basically did fuck-all and many who claimed to boycott ended up buying the game anyway.

It's the reason he's been off of Bob's Burgers for two seasons or more. They canned Jimmy Pesto immediately after photos of Johnston surfaced at Jan 6th at the capitol.
