@LibrarianRA bluesky has been great, it's open now and i got more followers in 6 months there than in 6 years on mastodon. there is no easy way to say this next part but my interactions have been more friendly and far more fun there too. hope to see you there

For better or worse, I’m on a Mastodon server by myself. And I have a couple Masto tech
questions!

  1. Is it normal to never see how many favs someone’s post has? It’s always zero. (I miss that, it’s nice to see what resonates with people.)
  2. I also sometimes don’t see all (most?) of the replies on someone’s tweet. Also normal? What dictates the ones I see?

@cabel i have multiple mastodon accounts on different servers and the like/rt counts of any specific post are always different and sometimes zero. i also see a variable number of replies and sometimes zero. sometimes, my own instance doesn't show me all of my replies/likes/rts. i'm sure there is a technical reason behind this, but i would go out on a limb and suggest that failure of such a basic function might be a sign why mastodon never took off
