A friend’s son was stabbed multiple times last year and they did nothing. He knew the guy’s name, or at least an alias, and had a picture because the guy had contacted him on social media to buy something, which is why they were meeting in the first place, and SPD was like, “wow that’s a bummer, I guess we could maybe arrest the guy if one of our officers happens to trip over him during their daily rounds of doing jack shit, but we’re not gonna actually look for him.” Apparently attempted murder with a side of robbery doesn’t warrant them removing their thumbs from their asses to do the bare minimum of investigation.

Nah, you’re not at fault. These little fuckers are terrible. They also break your thread if you have to pull too hard. I’ve given up and now I’m just using a giant needle if I’m using the full 6 strands. I’ll probably order some of the metal hook kind but for now it’s fine.

Uh that absolutely does happen with labs. It can happen with any breed. I’ve volunteered in rescue for years, and when I was working at a shelter, I interacted with hundreds of dogs, and the only time I was ever truly scared was with one particular lab. I don’t hold it against the breed as a whole, because it was his issue, but people need to be aware that any dog can bite and take proper precautions.

That’s a dangerous way to think. There was a story about a golden retriever killing a baby in its carrier a few years back. The family said the dog had always been sweet and friendly, and the infant was too small to have done something like pull a tail or poke an eye.

I love dogs, I can’t imagine living without at least one and working with others, but way too many people assume that having a “safe” breed means nothing will happen. The vast majority of the time, everything is ok, but every now and then, a friendly dog bites someone in the face.

I think he may have been - he didn’t bite me, but when multiple volunteers refused to take him out because his body language read imminent attack, they pulled him for further behavioral evaluation. I don’t know what happened, but he wasn’t cleared in the time I was there. I’m not even sure why he was on the adoption floor to start with.

That statement doesn’t mean they don’t process anonymous submissions, it just means you don’t get a letter saying they got it if you submit it anonymously. It’s more likely that they just don’t have the resources to follow up on every tip unless it’s particularly egregious, given the number of churches who are definitely in violation in the US.

I specifically required a case with no windows on my last build. I don’t need to see it, I just need it to work. Plus, I was too cheap to pay for for the same fan in black when the brown works just fine, so it was gonna be kind of ugly in the guts no matter what.

Thank goodness it’s not just me. Reading the post had me like “well yeah, obviously, what else can you even do in that situation?” You gotta get the strainers clean once you know they aren’t. It’s basically the law.

This is me with embroidery. I started out making a couple of friendship bracelets in June. And then I thought, “Hey, now I have a bunch of extra floss, why don’t I try to embroider something?” So I bought a couple of kits to practice, and now like 2 months later, I have a full box of floss including some fancy shit from Japan, a boatload of hoops, and piles of colored cotton. I moved from printing other people’s patterns to customizing them in like, a week. I created my own monster. And now my favorite supply store has patterns for tiny embroidered felt animals so I’m starting a set of dinosaurs.

The real issue is what the fuck do I do with all this stuff I’m making. I don’t want to monetize it and I’m not really good enough for that anyway, but it’s gonna be a problem soon.

I like her, she seems cool. I purposely built a crafting area with a huge closet when I finished the basement. At a certain point, you just have to accept that the crafts have taken over your life and home.

They removed one of my posts for saying I was going to fight a person that doesn’t exist. It was completely obvious that the entire thing was a joke, and again, the person doesn’t even exist, but I guess that’s a more credible threat than all the actual violence that shows up on that dumpster fire of a site.

There are a couple of Republicans running against her in the primary, and they’re far more qualified. Still assholes, but they seem to be able to read, so they’re miles ahead of her. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she loses to one of them.

I feel the opposite! I’m intimidated by the counting and how everything has to be so precise with cross stitch. Embroidery is more like, eh I messed that up a little, stitch something next to it to make it look better.

It’s a split stitch - it’s just back stitching, but you just stick the needle through the middle of your previous stitch. The original pattern used chain stitch but it’s a lot more work, so I went the lazier route that still gives a similar kind of sweater-y effect.
