If I have to take a dedicated server to make my small spaceship game work, I'm seriously considering going with WebRTC instead of Enet for networking...
It's a bit of a dream to just be able to start the game on itch and BAM - you're flying with other people 😄

Once again: ship ! Now with sparkles ✨️
(wait, did I show this concept here before ?)

A small stylized spaceship with glowing lines flies around between giant floating cubes

I'm currently in a loop of:

  1. Start working on new project
  2. "Wow the scope of this project has gotten quite big, better to start a smaller project and finish that first"
  3. goto 1

somebody send help

I'm kinda proud of this audio system I made for the GMTK jam 2023, so I ported it to Godot 4, cleaned it up, documented it and now it's available on Github !
Lacks a lot of features (like how to handle music) but it does the job for SFX ^^

Game development is just a pile of increasingly cruel exceptions to the rules you set out at the start.

Ancient me: "things should point where they're moving"

Old me: "things should also be able to move via animation, and have that movement count toward the point-where-moving, but only AFTER animation finishes, so we end up pointed in the right direction"

Current me: "actually things should also be able to, optionally, be told to face in the opposite direction of where they're moving. Or in fact any other radial offset."

Coming for twitter I'm still getting used to the value of boosts/favorites compared to retweets/likes
I already had my timeline set to "following" on the other app so not many changes there, but I guess I just used to like everything instead of retweeting ?...

@amxmln That's actually how I used Twitter before ! So I guess the advice I saw was mostly directed to people that usually depend more on the algorithm
