What is really bugging me, not the pain in my knees, leg, wrists, elbow, chest, and so on, no, what is really bugging me is that it was my own stupid fault.

I tripped over my shoe laces.

If you don't know, these Salomon cross hike shoes have a pull cord thing for laces. It works well. Well, if your arm is working well enough to pull it.

The bit left over. I did not know what to do, I poked in a loop in the shoe. Worked on my old ones for years.

But came out this time and tripped me.

@bencurthoys @revk @revk I doubt it's much consolation, but a mate of mine in France phoned me to commiserate. He's broken his arm too.

He tripped over his shoe laces...

"An Epitaph to Laptops"

When I was younger I though that world only gets better. Things are improved.… Computers not only go faster & draw less power but they become more usable & allow people to be more productive because of new features introduced.

Unfortunately it’s not true. Some things are improving but other get forgotten or get worse.

Introducing Mercury OS
A speculative vision of the operating system, driven by humane design principles.

← This is fascinating. I've long thought we needed some ground-up thinking in this area.

But I now wonder if it's also why stripped-out UIs like GNOME are favoured by so many folks in (e.g.) the Linux space... which is famously full of neurodivergent people.

15min to pick a filename?! Really?

But I've seen SO MANY desktops like the pics in that blog.
