lud,

Is there anything pointing to that in this case?

lud,

Self serve is fairly common in Sweden. Not all restaurants have it but a decent amount does.

No free refills though, except at IKEA.

lud,

The point of most gun control is to reduce the amount of guns not necessarily remove them all.

Of course at least some criminals will always have guns but lots of deaths could be prevented by just reducing the amount of people with illegal or legal guns.

It’s also much more likely for a potential criminal to become a criminal with a gun if it’s really easy to get guns, especially if they or someone they know (like parents) already own one.

lud,

How often do people really defend themselves with lethal force?

Are your criminals weird or something? Do they shoot people at every opportunity?

No, defending property doesn’t justify lethal force.

lud,

Sure, but you say that guns are a human right like housing or food.

No one needs a gun.

lud, (edited )

Taxes are an effective way of reducing at least tobacco usage. Tons of studies prove that. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/…/2270.pdf

lud,

I absolutely get hunting rifles we have a lot of them here and as far as I know they are rarely used or crime.

lud,

But it’s not an important “right” in the slightest.

lud,

The best format imo is MB/s and Mbit/s

It avoids all confusion.

lud,

As far as I know they were somewhat like cruise ships in their luxury.

The (enormous) problem is weight. Everything needs to be as light as possible, it’s a balloon after all.

lud, (edited )

The worse enemy of public transport and other changes to cities are probably Nimbys and culture.

lud,

Try Chrome.

Pretty sure they are actually telling the truth.

lud,

That’s neat.

lud,

Not sure what you mean, but my bank has like 70+ locations in my country.

In 2012 they apparently had 165 locations and 101 of those only had ATMs and no manual cash handling. My bank was the first with this large scale change but now every bank is essentially cash free. Hell, the whole country is essentially cash free.

lud, (edited )

Yeah, cash free greatly decreases the risk of robberies from high to non-existent. And no one really uses cash anyways here so it doesn’t matter much. If someone wants to use cash anyways, we have these machines that are called automated teller machine.

I am not saying I’m a huge fan of banks but they do actually provide useful very services like debit/credit cards, loans, safe keepings of money, and a bunch of other stuff. And if you only use the basic services with a debit card plus basic bank accounts there are minimal yearly fees. I pay nothing because I’m young enough but in a few years I will have to pay what’s equivalent to around 55 USD each year, which I think is very reasonable.

lud,

I wouldn’t say excited but I don’t care much. I personally never ever use cash because it’s a hassle but I obviously think that it should be possible.

And banks having cash is honestly pretty useless anyways.

lud,

Ah, I got you. Thanks for explaining.

I never imagined that any banks would ever keep cash in any large quantities. That seems like it would be extremely annoying for everyone when you can just let other companies handle the cash and ATMs and instead just send money digitally. I can imagine any banks has operated like that for a few decades at least.

lud,

I’m not so sure it’s worse actually.

Hiding in an active hospital is worse imo because it makes it a potentially legal target* for bombing which risks the lives of everyone working there and their patients.

*I’m not sure how it would be classified in this exact instance, but according to international law like the Geneva convention combatants that are hiding with very close proximity to civilians can make some collateral damage acceptable. I.E. it’s not possible to run into a hospital and expect that killing you is suddenly illegal. Bombing the whole hospital is likely illegal though.

I was just sharing what I remembered from reading the ICRC website and other sources a while back (probably last year or something).

Here is what I found on their website right now:

If armed forces are using a hospital or school as a base to launch attacks or store weapons, are those places then a legitimate military target?

The laws of war prohibit direct attacks on civilian objects, like schools. They also prohibit direct attacks against hospitals and medical staff, which are specially protected under IHL. That said, a hospital or school may become a legitimate military target if it contributes to specific military operations of the enemy and if its destruction offers a definite military advantage for the attacking side.

If there is any doubt, they cannot be attacked. Hospitals only lose their protection in certain circumstances - for example if a hospital is being used as a base from which to launch an attack, as a weapons depot, or to hide healthy soldiers/fighters. And there are certain conditions too.

Before a party to a conflict can respond to such acts by attacking, it has to give a warning, with a time limit, and the other party has to have ignored that warning. Some States have endorsed the Safe Schools Declaration and Guidelines, which aim to reduce the military use of schools.

icrc.org/…/ihl-rules-of-war-FAQ-Geneva-Convention…

I have read more about it earlier and I could probably give you some more quotes and links but right now I don’t care enough.

Also is Israel torturing patients and staff? That’s the first I’ve heard of it. Got any credible sources? If not, it’s a pretty wild accusation.

lud,

I think the ICRC is a good enough source for me. I heard you the first no need to say the same thing again. You are delusional if you think people will read every long ass report you throw at people.

I might read it even if it were you that sent it to me, if I find the time but I have other things to do.

Why are you crying about “spam formatting”?

I’m under no obligation to know every single thing about the war. I just don’t follow it as closely as you allegedly do, not everyone likes to read about death all day.

lud,

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

lud,

How does Brexit have anything to do with this.

lud,

I just realized that they were sarcastic.

Earlier I thought they were happy about Brexit, lol.

lud,

And not just in 2024 grey hats and white hats have existed for quite some time now.
