Hi @lumpley
I just picked up Under Hollow Hills from your shop today and I have been working through the rules.
I have questions about the Summer / Winter transition. The whole wording of the Step Towards Winter mechanism seems portentous but there doesn't seem to be any outcome.
What happens when a Fae steps all the way to winter?
Do they loose the ability to chose that outcome?
Are there any other consequences?
Does the Summer / Winter balance interact with the season at all?
Does the human version have any similar consequences?

If you're in full winter and you step toward winter, you should still adjust your plays, and you can erase and rewrite a point of your winter imagery if you want to.

You know that we used to play all the way troupe, GMless.

Our general rule was that we'd play each others' foils, not our own, and that worked great — I wouldn't usually be in the position of spearheading an attack against my own character. But still, my characters were all the time doing things that were bad for each other. No way around it.

I'm spending the day with Meg at the Pioneer Valley History Fest, which is like a gaming con for local history.

So far before lunch I've learned about MA's surviving cold war infrastructure, like the strategic air defense bunker on our side of Bear Mountain, and about the surviving appointment and account daybook of a Longmeadow physician 1795-1800.

Getting in with local historians is a fun time.

Of contemporary political relevance: Dr Colton commonly prescribed "pill Hooper," Hooper's Patent Female Pills, for "deficient menstruation." They contained pennyroyal.

A strong subtext today connecting history with advocacy.

For instance, Meg went to a presentation about the architectural history of public housing, and I went to one about the history of the Belchertown State School for the disabled. Several presentations connected to MA's colonial and post-colonial alms house system. You hear about history and can't help but think about public policy today.

@lumpley In bog standard PbtA, is there (or would you put) an upper limit on the maximum number a modifier could be on a roll?

I see that The Warren puts a maximum number on an ability score's modifier (-2 to +2). While Dungeon World puts a max on an ability score from (-3 to +3). Neither says anything about a maximum from rolls however (that I can see).

I did read your blog post PbtA, Part 7, QA Round 1, but the question of additional modifiers to rolls didn't seem to come up.

In Apocalypse World, stats max out at +3. It's easy enough to get an additional +1, but that's usually all you can get. I guess +5 rolls are possible but rare, I've probably only seen half a dozen of them over the years.

I've played with a +4 max to rolls, but generally I don't bother.

Yesterday, I've played my first improptu session of The Wizard's Grimoire by @lumpley. Had a Blast!

Seluvis was visited at home by a strange guard, hired by a seer to find the book of the dead in the city depths, faced the seven trials, and proved worthy of possessing the Aibesta's signature. The Seer wanted to test him and offered to become her apprentice. Nevertheless, Seluvis refused: he doesn't care about the dead! So, he unlocked the first section and begun his journey.

Kind of, yeah.

Paying attention to the court cases this past year has made me overall more optimistic, but I'm just not confident how this one is going to go.

My $5 bet is on this argument: "Section 3 says that congress can restore his eligibility to hold office by a 2/3 vote, but if he's not allowed on the ballot, he loses that opportunity. Therefore he should be allowed on the ballot, because maybe they will."
