@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml

Hi, I’m Miss Brainfart.

I’m afraid of sharks, with the exception being blåhaj. What could that possibly mean, huh.
(That’s not a hint, I genuinely have no idea)

Lemmings can also find me @miss_brainfart:catgirl.cloud on Matrix, if they desire to do so for e2ee reasons

I absolutely love this image. The pure, genuine delight they show from seeing this penguin is really contagious.

Or is it just me?

Was mich jetzt interessieren würde, ist ob die App die Funktion verweigert, wenn man alle unnötigen Verbindungen blockiert.

Sieht man ja immer wieder, sowas.

Sich auch nur vorzustellen, dass die sowas machen könnten…

Ekelhaft

I literally just installed Zettlr after looking for open source Obsidian alternatives, and now there’s another one already?

I hate it. I’m a good driver, but it just stresses me out. Having all the adrenaline firing to pay attention is exhausting.

Add to that all the people on the road that do not give a shit about anyones safety, and I would sell my car tomorrow, if our public transport wasn’t so bad.

So, how many of you are doing an epilogue, too?

The Grand Canyon of Thoughts.

The fog in there is so thick, you don’t even see the alligators ripping everything up

Not being bothered by stuff like this seems to be one of the reasons people start using terms that are actually wrong instead of just ambiguous. Like 2K to describe QHD.

I will never let that one go.

I wonder when they’ll have to start deleting content to make space again. At some point, adding more and more servers probably won’t be feasible anymore.

It really is just wild that a service like YouTube is as big as it is and just does its thing.

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

And then comes the question, what will they delete first?

Probably old and therefore maybe irrelevant content, but those old videos from over a decade ago are also mostly lower resolution and bitrate and won’t free up as much space.

So once that’s exhausted, what goes next?

Who will have the privilege to stay on the platform, and who won’t? Or in other words, who makes YouTube the most money?

And once that has to be decided, content will be whatever YouTube wants it to be. Which I can’t imagine being a good thing.

The worst part about chat control is that they proposed it without having a single clue as to how this would be set up, let alone managed and controlled.

Them not being able to give clear answers to absolutley valid and fair questions just breaks more trust in their competence.

Anyway, next I’d like them to ban anything that can be considered factory new e-waste, like cheap usb fans that break after a month, or keychain speakers that don’t even sound good. There’s so many things in production that just don’t have any business existing.

I just realized that the only reason I noticed my old phones’ battery swelling was that the back cover is removable and got pushed out.

Now I’m terrified of my current aluminium unibody.

And a pihole for the other people on my network who can’t quite let go of some apps and services.

After a weekend where the whole family was there, my pihole displayed that 57% of all connections where blocked.

57%

No one complained about anything not working.

57% of all connections were completely and utterly unnecessary to the actual services that were being used.

That is just wild.

Assuming you mean built-in adblock and so on, Librewolf on the Desktop and the Mull Browser on Android. The latter is the default browser for DivestOS, a custom rom based on LineageOS.

Well, Mull doesn’t have a buil-in blocker, but you can use uBlock Origin

I remember reading about Ubisoft integration for Heroic a while ago, but I’m not sure anymore.

Would make life on Linux so much easier, every now and then I just want to jump into some Far Cry and do a few outposts, that’s always good fun

how do people deal with the cold

The good old you can always add more layers. The coldest temperature I ever experienced in my region was -26°C, the hottest just over 40. Between the two, I much prefer the former.

But then again, it just boils down to what you’re used to. Our winters have always been on the harsher side, and I’m not even far up north.

Every new heatwave has me holding on for dear life. Judging by recent years, my body will have to adapt sooner than later, otherwise I’m going to have a really bad time going forward.

wet your head

For some reason, I’ve never really thought about this. I splash my face, my neck, wet my arms and legs, but I always forget the top of my head.

Maybe I unconciously assume my hair provides good shade, but it’s definitely not long and thick enough for that.

plan your day around the heat

This is probably the most important part. It’s quite easy to do that on weekends, but many people have their set in stone hours at work that just aren’t compatible with that kind of weather.

We need to figure out how employers can be more flexible with allowing their employees to work around the heat when possible. It’s normal for construction workers to start earlier and pause during the hottest hours, why not do that in the office too?

Some middle-european countries are starting to consider the siesta model of their southern neighbours, and I think that’s not a bad idea at all.

Less traffic is something I didn’t even think about, but that’s absolutely a big added benefit. Especially when so many people don’t seem to care about speed limits in construction zones. Well, here at least, I don’t know about Australia.

I don’t envy the people who do roadside work, it must be incredibly stressful. Hearing protection, helmet and visor protect them, but also make it harder to notice approaching traffic.

I would probably be jumpscared every time a truck suddenly appears in my peripheral.
