@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml

Hi, I’m Miss Brainfart.

I’m afraid of sharks, with the exception being blåhaj. What could that possibly mean, huh.
(That’s not a hint, I genuinely have no idea)

Lemmings can also find me @miss_brainfart:catgirl.cloud on Matrix, if they desire to do so for e2ee reasons

I’m officially on my way to the promised land now.

Wish me luck, I’ll need it :')

Thank you <3

Let’s see how long the very first hurdle of finding a therapist will take. Need the official diagnosis to do anything useful.

Our healthcare system and insurance companies have been stubborn pricks for decades, and the fact that I’m willing to deal with their bs should be diagnosis enough, but oh well.

Slight male navigational advantage likely due to cultural differences, researchers find (phys.org)

A team of psychologists, social scientists, philosophers and evolutionary researchers affiliated with multiple institutions in the U.S. has found evidence suggesting that the slight advantage males have in navigation ability is likely due to differences in the ways male and female children are raised....

I mean, landmarks don’t make much sense to use on a 2D, birds eye view map

Passionatly going on about that thing they enjoy is suuuper hot. If I’m already crushing on someone and they do this, it’s over for me, I need them in my life

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Aw, I’m really enjoying Outer Worlds right now.

That being said, I fully agree with Subnautica being a fantastic game. Probably my favourite game ever.

As if expensive phones are any better

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh, no need to feel weird about it. Many devices have gotten cheaper than their alternatives because of the grotesque amount of data they collect.

So assuming that cheaper means more invasive seems perfectly plausible, I can’t fault you for that.

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

It’s been there for me since the whole thing started

I’m starting to wonder, what will YouTube do once it stops being remotely sustainable to run?

Is more efficient video compression being developed faster than people are uploading content?

Like, at some point, they might just run out of space and will have to purge millions of videos.

Anyone playing Outer Worlds, the Spacers Choice Edition? Suuuper annoying issues, I might actually install it on Windows instead

Edit:
Flawless on Windows, general performance seems to be a tad better, too.

Which is great to see, because that means it’s not the game itself, and that maybe Wine/Proton will be able to fix these issues

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Well, yes. Which is why I mentioned the Spacers Choice edition.

It doesn’t seem to have the same specific issues on Windows though, apart from generally performng worse than anyone would expect it to.

So I reckon I’ll just try and see for myself if that’s true. Because the problems many Linux users (me included) seem to have according to ProtonDB make the game borderline unplayable.

Sometimes not even borderline.

@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Many games might actually be DRM free without you realizing. Look them up on PC Gaming Wiki, and maybe you’ll like what you see.

With some games it’s as simple as launching them directly from the executable to circumvent annoying launchers and accounts.

Something most people probably don’t even think of doing anymore, and why would they. But it never hurts to try.

So like, sharks are especially terrifying because they’re pretty much dead silent, right?

Now imagine a big white worming its way through the undergrowth. I can’t get over how funny that thought is to me right now

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Damn, that’s insane!

Does Connect You work for you? I can send messages, but if someone replies, the notification only shows their number instead of the name I saved them as, and the reply doesn’t show up in the chat itself

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah, the only alternative I know of would be Gcam with unnecessary permissions removed.

Other than that, the LineageOS default cam can use all the lenses, but doesn’t have any useful manual settings.

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh wow, so it’s even worse than I thought. It works on my one+ 5t, but maybe because I’m running DivestOS? Or one+ has just closed down the camera api on newer models

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Ohhh, okay. Gotta say, wouldn’t have surprised me though.

auto-focus on the macro lens just doesn’t work (making that one useless)

So you basically have a fixed focus distance, or is it all over the place because the auto-focus freaks out?

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh, that sounds annoying. If it’s any consolation, there’s clip-on macro lenses for closer focus that can be had for just a few bucks.

Speaking from experience, you can produce some really cool shots with those, if there isn’t any other solution for that problem.

miss_brainfart,
@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Interesting, so it seems to depend on how accessible the manufacturer makes their camera api?

Does that make sense? I don’t know much about how this all works, to be honest

@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

First I used Proton GE 8-25, then 8-27, but it didn’t make a difference.

However, I’ve moved the game to my Windows drive in the meantime, and it runs flawlessly there. Which means the problem is not the game itself, so maybe Wine/Proton will be able to fix these issues some day.

(The Spacers Choice Edition Epic gave away some time ago is also fully DRM-free btw. You can run it directly from the executable, no launcher or authentication required. In fact, I’ve found that many of those Epic freebies I got over the last few years are DRM-free. I’m basically a legal, official pirate at that point.)

@miss_brainfart@lemmy.ml avatar

Okay, I think I just didn’t understand what you meant.

Where do I find these daily builds though? I’m being extremely oblivious right now

Edit:
Found it, but I’d need to make a Github account to access these debug APKs

I only use Lawnchair because of the Arcticons icon pack, it doesn’t seem to work with the default trebuchet launcher. At least it didn’t last time I checked.

All the other launchers Arcticons supports are either exclusive to the Play Store, or simply not what I like, so Lawnchair it is.
