Here's the transcript. It was a genuine misunderstanding -- "have Apollo quiet down," Steve took to mean "I'll make noise in the press if you don't agree" when Christian was talking about quiet vs. loud in API usage. He meant "quiet" in terms of, we'll consume less resources of the API. It was honestly confusing; I think Christian was genuinely unclear, but the confusion was cleared up, and whoever was talking on Reddit's end acknowledged the misunderstanding and apologized for getting heated at the perceived threat in the first place.

Then Steve later summarized that conversation as if that clarification-of-the-misunderstanding had never happened, and got angry about it when Christian "leaked" the transcript and recording of the call to clarify what had actually happened.

For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?

I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?...

Quick answer, it rocks 👍. Things work differently obviously, but nothing's especially confusing or awkward. Everything I've done in the short time I've been here has worked fine. The speed and UI polish show minor problems in places, but it's to be expected. As far as I can tell it's 100% usable right away as a realistic reddit replacement, which is pretty outstanding IMO.

Hey, thank you! I actually have abstract monster ones too -- black on solid color silhouettes, so they contrast strongly with the player tokens so it's more clear what's going on if the battlefield gets complex:

I like the cel-shaded monsters just because they're more exciting, but in terms of pure utility the more abstract tokens definitely have a leg up.
