AFAICT, mastodon's decisions, which are arguably problematic (on which see: https://lemmy.ml/post/14973403) are literally trickling down to other platforms and infecting how they federate with each other as they dance around mastodon's quirks in different ways.
It seems like masto is ruining "the standard" with its gravity.
None of that matters if Mastodon doesnt implement these suggestions or standards. And from past experience its extremely unlikely that they will. Thats why I think its best to ignore what Mastodon does, its not our concern how they decide to render things.
Is it possible to publish posts on Lemmy from your Wordpress blog? If this post appears in the @wordpress community then this hypothesis will be confirmed!
Interesting. Looking at the federation content, it seems that Wordpress doesnt federate the post text at all, only a summary with link to the post. So theres no way for Lemmy to show anything more. Seems like they only considered federation with Mastodon, nothing else.
You can see it with curl -H ‘Accept: application/activity+json’ https://www.informapirata.it/2024/01/02/is-it-possible-to-publish-posts-about-lemmy-from-your-wordpress-blog/ | jq
when i follow a lemmy community on mastodon, the "account" of the community boosts both posts and replies - that is not how it is on lemmy itself, and the replies being boosted lead to a lot of out-of-context on my timeline. why is that so, and is it possible to change it so that it boosts only posts?
Why when I click signup or login, button spins forever, no network activity on click. Tried on multiple instances, no luck. Am I the only one? I'm using Firefox @lemmy
Lemmy requires a moderator for communities, which is the user who initially created the group. If it were created automatically that would leave the group unmoderated. It wouldnt even be possible to edit the description or upload an avatar, let alone ban trolls. So this seems like a bad idea.
