otter,

What’s a good compromise for now. I wasn’t getting my news from Facebook/instagram, but it might be nice to have a consistent and direct source for it.

I see news agencies have RSS feeds, is that the way to go? Does anyone have a list?

otter,

Yep that’s pretty much it. While I value seeing the most important news in each category, I could also get that through my normal interactions on Lemmy and other places.

It’s nice to have a regular feed I can fall back on

otter,

Thank you, I’ll look that over!

Also, I appreciate your posts :)

otter,

How does it work for apps that are a part of other services?

Say a company has an app available to all customers that pay for some unrelated service, it would be weird to require them to do the transaction over Google Play?

otter,

TLDR: Sync for Lemmy is open for preregister

Not in the article, but same with Boost

otter,

Same, just got the notification!

I’m waiting for Boost since that’s what I was used to, but this looks great too :)

otter,

His character was my favorite, and he seemed like a really genuine person in real life. Like he was just happy to be a part of the show.

Euphoria was his first acting role from what I remember.

otter,

Maybe people saw it as a “who cares” type of comment

otter,

I also don’t think Lemmy is ready for everyone, especially in terms of moderation. The tools are very limited and hard to access. I have to navigate to each post to deal with it, and the only 3 options (right next to one another) are ‘remove post’, ‘ban from community’ and ‘appoint as mod’.

There’s also no modmail or automod tools, which are really important as a community gets large.

It’s fine for now with the communities I’m moderating, but I’d understand if some Reddit communities don’t feel ready

otter,

The problem is that there just isn’t an alternative for some communities (yet). For some things there’s ONE space to talk about it and/or a nice little helpful community.

IMO it’s up to each person how they want to move forwards, and staying on in a limited capacity is a fair compromise. Another advantage being the community can later be redirected when users are ready.

otter,

My only suggestion would be to maybe make the window a little longer. While I use Lemmy a lot (and I used Reddit a lot too), I can see 5 days being too little for some people who are busy with work to write up a proper explanation.

At the same time, I guess there is a question about how well moderated a community is if no one checks in for 5 days. Could you have it so that the request needs to be acknowledged within a week, but a proper explanation has a longer window?

otter,

This is one of those minor things that people argue about anyways, but supposedly Osoyoos isn’t a “true dessert”. Or at least, it isn’t the only dessert because little Ashcroft is one too. It’s a part of the town’sidentity as well.

The lake looks cool! Does it change much over the course of the year or does it often look spotty?

otter,

Could Photon be another one? It looks pretty nice, lemodroid added it alongside these two

Edit: Oh looks like someone already mentioned it further down

otter,

Hey, hope you’re doing well!

Now that there are some more local moderators and this community is moving along, I was thinking of leaving the role. I’m still happy to help out, and I can come along later if needed, but I thought it might be better to leave it up to local community members :)

edit: Although it doesn’t look like the leave button is working just yet
