TIL Gmail assumes any "From" email name of the form "String1, String2" means "Last, First".

So when it shows the "first names only" collapsed list of recipients, any "First M. Last, Title/Honorific" - such as "Trapper John, MD" - shows up as just "MD".

D&D parties I want to DM for/play in:

  • You are four kobolds in a trenchcoat pretending to be a human. You individually move portions of the body with strings and wires and must regularly pass stealth and performance checks when engaging with NPCs.

  • You are a group of aging geriatric adventurers who broke out of their retirement home for one last grand adventure. Each of you suffer at least one age-related minor ailment, such as forgetful memory or a small bladder.

  • Bears.

  • You are the NPCs of a town besieged during the last campaign but abandoned to its fate by the previous party. When your NPC inevitably dies, you pick up the sheet of another. Anyone who survives becomes a folk hero and begins the next campaign.

  • You are kids. Strange, supernatural things are afoot in your sleepy little hamlet and none of the adults believe you. So it's up to you and your three or four best friends to investigate and confront the mystery.

  • You are all either werewolves or vampires in an extremely shaky alliance.

  • You are all bards. You are in a band. You are booked for 12 shows in 10 cities in a whirlwind tour of the Glass Coast. You must somehow make it to each performance date on time and ready to perform or suffer the consequences.

I miss getting together with a bunch of hacker friends for a week or even just a weekend in a cabin somewhere (with proper broadband, obviously) and alternating between working on side projects, playing videogames together, and talking while we walk through the woods.

Please help @ryanc beat some sense in to the UK court system to permit official recognition of their gender https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/non-binary-recognition/

As I understand it the most recent ruling can be summed up as:

"Yes the government discriminated against you, and it would recognise your gender legally if you were British, but because you're foreign it's too haaaaaard 😢"

This is of course a bullshit excuse, but challenging it is expensive.

@http_error_418 That’s not quite right - the fact that I wasn't born in the UK and am listed as nonbinary on my birth certificate was actually a strong point in my favour.

But, yeah, the bottom line was "screw you, we can't be arsed".
