I just had an idea for a neat thing Apple could do.

Y’know the little tabs that pop up when you select text in iOS?

It’d be cool if the device learned which actions you tend to choose in a given situation.

So, if you choose “Translate” more often than, say, “Format,” they could make that a little easier for you.

This is an idea that I just had.

@siracusa it was surprising to hear you this week sounding almost against app icon customization. As you are aware, MacOS has allowed arbitrary pictures to be made app icons in the Finder for 30 years, and it’s nobody’s business but the user - and nobody has any standing to sue Apple because some user colored something. I welcome this - it’s MY device, and some company’s trademarks are as irrelevant to me as Apple’s aesthetic sensibilities. I want to color or replace all icons.

I suppose the only thing I could foresee is jerks like T-Mobile asserting ownership of “magenta” and being angry if that was an option presented to users, but again, Photoshop allows me to make a shape in any color including magenta and they aren’t being sued. Don’t you oppose bad IP laws like software patents and blanket ownership of a literal color?

@siracusa you mentioned people could still notice crt flickering at up to 60hz. If someone reduced their iPad’s brightness down to 1/8 wouldn’t that effectively be 60hz? Maybe the people bothered by PWM set their iPads to lower brightness than you do?

@atpfm On the latest ATP John said that Apple doesn't allow real cameras at #WWDC at Apple Park. Not sure what he meant because that wasn't true last year at least. Things that amuse me; Looking back through old Siri-generated reminders on my phone where it failed picking up slang context or my accent and tried to turn it into some kind of formal Americanspeak, or something. Some I can interpret. Others I have no idea.

A screenshot of reminders reminding me of “copy shop”, “pump”, and “get Craig shoot them up”. I do not remotely remember what these were. Probably "Coffee shop" which always gets reinterpreted to "Copy shop", a term we generally don't use.

@caseyliss @siracusa Gentlemen, re: ATP Neutral, I would like to remind you both about the most epic car ever created since the McLaren F1 — the GMA T.50 (Gordon Murray Automotive, the guy who created the F1), which has a high-revving (12K rpm) V12 engine. It’s the size of a Porsche Boxster/Cayman more or less.
