Why do some podcasts on have auto-generated transcriptions and chapters (ATP), while others do not (History Extra)?

Is this something you had to opt in to @marcoarment @caseyliss @siracusa ?

@callionica We did not opt into it. Also, we put our own chapters in the actual MP3 file, which Spotify is apparently ignoring.

@siracusa I think you’ll find it interesting that the M4 sits directly behind the copper Apple Logo, therefore acting as a heat sink.

They probably didn’t throw some thermal compound on there because that would just transfer a lot of heat to the logo and be really hot to touch.

apologies if i missed this commentary, but why is no one talking about at a minimum desktop equivalent safari on ipad?

I still cant sign into my banking app or even use google docs/sheets etc with parody of the mac. At a minimum, that would solve 50% of most peoples ipad needs.

@alexrose That’s mostly the fault of the websites, not the browser. Safari on iPad should be able to do all that stuff, if only the websites would stop rejecting it based on it being on an iPad.

@siracusa Is there an episode of ATP where you talk about your photography workflow when importing / editing photos from your vacations?

I recently bought my first big boy camera and am struggling a bit with where to keep the files (jpeg + raw). Do you keep everything in Apple Photos? Just jpegs? How to you manage moving files between Lightroom and Photos?

@timbueno Yes, but I don’t remember which specific episode. Short version: I shoot RAW+JPEG, import all the JPEGs, choose favorites, then (painfully, manually) import the RAWS for my favorites. It’s pretty cumbersome.

@siracusa @caseyliss Im surprised both of you didn’t seem to realize that it’s an optional mode that can be enabled if you so desire. @david The beauty of Dropbox is that I can quit the app, do a bunch of development, and then relaunched it later. Much better control, and deterministic behavior with reasonable execution time.

@jsnell I just got my iPad Pro 11 M4 – purchased almost exclusively for the new OLED display 😉

But I have to say I’m a bit underwhelmed (the blacks are still not as black as the bezel), and almost shocked to see what looks like the dreaded soap opera effect when watching movies?!

It’s nice to see a greater dynamic range, but everything is maybe popping too much – colors, light, etc?

I almost prefer the more muted, movie-like look of the iPad Pro 2022 LCD, which seems blasfemous.

Am I crazy?
