SRE, movie snob, 100% correct opinions about everything, always extremely serious. Not a Ryan Gosling fan account, I swear. Ok maybe a bit.

There was a time when meadow, grove, and stream,
The earth, and every common sight,
To me did seem
Apparell’d in celestial light,
The glory and the freshness of a dream.
It is not now as it hath been of yore;—
Turn wheresoe’er I may,
By night or day,
The things which I have seen I now can see no more.

Any solutions for using a smartphone permanently plugged in without destroying the battery? e.g for use as a security camera, or a display

@decryption some phones, like ASUS ROG phones, pass through power around the battery via one of their multiple USB C ports. But dropping >$1k on a phone to act as a camera seems a bit counter productive 🤔

@decryption I wonder how many of those hours are just him travelling from meeting to meeting on opposite sides of Apples comically large building

@decryption Very sad to see more price increases from them, it's been a yearly tradition for a while now and they do a very good job of keeping it quiet each time. I had a business account with them, and they never once proactively communicated these price rises until they had already taken effect - very dodgy.

I stopped using Auspost wherever possible and stopped buying from merchants that insist on using them as their sole delivery partner; their prices never stop going up, their delivery speed and reliability never stops going down, and LPOs/POs arent open at the right hours.

On top of all that the competition has gotten very good in the meantime. For example if I sell something on eBay I can have a courier pick it up, deliver it within 48 hours with reliable tracking (no missed scans) all for the same or lower price as Auspost slowly delivering it over the course of a week or two and only bothering to scan it once or twice.

@decryption Yeah that's a tough one, you can in theory use Sendle for small parcels (like a large-ish letter size) but that's more than double the price - probably more comparable to registered post I guess.
