Act Blue is an org used by the DNC to funnel money to them. Back in 2020 most BLM donations were skimmed/funneled to Act Blue. SBF laundered some money into it as well as being the #2 donor behind Soros and even #1 for a period.

wish there was a lightweight, modern city builder game out there that'd run well on weaker hardware

i want to play a city builder game but cities skylines doesn't run very well on my computer which isn't made for gaming, so i'm trying to play simcity 4, but it's a very old game that doesn't run super well on modern systems, can't even change focus from it without it completely breaking

MSFT just wanted the IPs especially for Blizzard. I don’t know how many people outside of gamedevs that know this, but Diablo had bugs because they didn’t know how to do percentages correctly. Don’t be shocked if they start outsourcing games for IP to East Asia just like they do for MSFT software.

Removal of staff is plan A. It’s another Shane Kim era of overhead reduction now after a buying spree on top of that…

There are many reasons. For example your studio is owned by another larger group and you’re sold off happens as well. However when you reach a certain age or size of business as a founder you might not be able to cope with it anymore. There can also be issues between founders.

You can now consider Id Software, Obsidian, THQ Nordic, etc and match up to the above as an exercise.

I remember the woman that claimed to be both Jesus and Buddha reincarnated. My favorite story was I went into a cult with a coworker, and the coworker started buying it. This was after another cult in OR that poisoned an entire town happened. A lot of cults in PNW.

The Leaving Rust Gamedev article resonates with most of the frustrations I've had working on the internals of Tangerine (C++) since I converted it from being largely single threaded spaghetti to aggressively concurrent spaghetti, and that's making me think maybe I'd have a better time if I picked a different language for the hot paths, because necessary non-compulsory refactoring also kills iteration time.

I just don't know what though, because nothing ever seems to fit the bill of what I need.

Writing a good job system for C++ and switching to better memory models helps more than switching languages.
