@Perl, Published a timeline and write up of the recent module vulnerabilities in parsing spreadsheets.

@Perl I released an initial version of Dist::Zilla::Plugin::GitHub::CreateRelease.

It creates a GitHub Release complete with release notes (per options) and attaches the archive to the release.

Great for ensuring that you create a GitHub release when you release a new module version to cpan.

It is likely rough so pull requests are welcome.

@Perl I released a new version of https://metacpan.org/pod/Crypt::OpenSSL::SignCSR a module that allows you to sign a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

It's an XS module, a kind of Frankenstein merger of C and . I may be a little strange but I like it. It's the third such module that I support on and the first I have written myself.

Learned a bunch more on this one. When you have to read docs named you have gone deep...

timlegge,

@jameswright6 @Perl I can't follow what you are saying. Which link are you referring to? I don't see anything wrong (except the License heading

Finally got an account on and I'm keeping a list of things I can do on Mastodon that I can't do there.

  1. Edit posts.
  2. Turn off boosts.
  3. Post something simple and have people reply to explain my own words to me over and over forever.

So, a mixed bag, really.

timlegge,

@fraying fingers accidentally boost things sometimes but I can't say that I disagree with them on this one...

timlegge,

@fraying lol - I accidentally boosted your "boots nazis" comment

students are getting a bit harsh lately

timlegge,

@MadMike77 @regehr my language of choice is Perl. I used to think of it as a write only language (and there are still some advanced idioms that are tough to read) but I recently consulted on a code base I had never seen, for an application I have never used. It was well written, concise, easy to read and understand. Any language can be "muddled".

We just bumped a client from version 5.16 to Perl version 5.32.

It feels great to be updating things to a modern Perl.

timlegge,

@mjgardner @fuzzix @ovid for some reason I thought ActiveState was no longer updating things. Good to see that was incorrect.

I saw someone point out elsewhere that Elon Musk is on a trajectory that's pretty similar to that of John McAfee. who was once a widely respected tech industry figure, became wealthy, then seemed to go a little nuttier every year, and then...

Anyway, I can't get that thought out of my head now.

timlegge,

@edbott I would have said no one could compare with John McAfee but Musk does seem to be on that track. At least with Starlink in place he should have no problem tweeting as he is on the run in some jungle.

McAfee was at least somewhat likable (maybe entertaining is a better word) though...
