some ppl in the original post below flagged that their threads profile verification on mastodon (rel=me link) didn't work, and we think we found a fix for it.

can people try it out and see if it works now? cc: @timothyjchambers @pcottle @sblackst @shamzzzzy @shubhankar_91

Big story today from @lorakolodny:

"Correspondence from Nvidia staffers also indicates that Musk diverted a sizable shipment of AI processors that had been reserved for Tesla to his social media company X, formerly known as Twitter." https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/04/elon-musk-told-nvidia-to-ship-ai-chips-reserved-for-tesla-to-x-xai.html

Interesting. I wonder how they came to that conclusion

The notorious election conspiracy film “2000 Mules” touted by Trump and right-wing figures as “proof” the election was stolen has been pulled by its distributor, Salem, which is publicly apologizing for the bogus claims in the movie https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/31/media/salem-will-stop-distributing-2000-mules/index.html

I just read this latest entry from ghost: https://activitypub.ghost.org/day3/

Making ActivityPub a “separate service” is similar to what @wordpress did, as instead of having ActivityPub a “core feature“ (which can cause issues elsewhere), making it an add-on might easier (at least for now).

This could help Ghost enter the fediverse sooner rather than later.

Later on, through various updates, Ghost can slowly make ActivityPub a core feature, similar to what @write.as hsa done.

I was only planning to post that last carousel to Instagram but I wanted to try that 🆕 Share to Threads option. Clicking the toggle took me back to the days when you could cross post from Instagram to Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, and even Foursquare.

Looking forward to the post once, follow anywhere promise of Fediverse Threads.

We're excited about the fediverse (as you may have noticed). In our journey we've tried to support others interested in the fediverse, share our experiences and provide ideas for people looking to build their own presence. This is a great post in our Fedi Curious newsletter (by @miaq) summarizing what we've done so far... and there's much more ahead!

I think it's a measure of how skewed is our attention economy that I'm an avid news consumer and I'm only just learning that 2.5 million Sudanese could be dead of starvation by the end of the summer

The same political operatives and media outlets that spent all of 2022 telling you that voters don't care about abortion will spend the rest of 2024 assuring you that Trump's now being a convicted felon doesn't matter either. They were wrong then, and they're wrong now.

i mean that probably is what rattles him the most here. he was hoping the truth social using, fox news loving, fan would lock up the jury. unfortunately this means even a stan saw he was guilty and thats hurting him a lot.

One of those weeks where you have to toss out your newsletter draft due to breaking news.

In today's @FWIWnews I did a quick analysis of how news of Trump's conviction spread on several social platforms:

This bit from @heathercoxrichardson's newsletter this morning:

"Trump has managed to escape accountability from the political system, but in a court of law, where prosecutors brought facts, witnesses were under oath, and jurors did not need him to keep them in positions of power, he lost."

Good morning!

Today would be a good day to:
Donate
Put Election Day(s) in your calendar
Check your ID
And double check your state’s voting rules

"The jury’s speed and unanimity leave no doubt about the verdict's watertightness. No matter what his lawyers say, Trump’s appeal court will be the US electorate. To say US society is a hung jury would be an understatement."

this is sad even for you bob. democrats didn’t make trump commit a felony, sorry he was caught and held accountable?

gtconway3, to random

I thoroughly agree. Guilty of thirty-four felonies. No acceptance of responsibility. Total contempt for the law and the legal process. Literally held in contempt ten times. Attacks on witnesses and jurors. There’s no substantial justification for not sending him to prison.

Rachel Maddow: It’s been 8 years down the road from these alleged crimes. Is justice delayed justice denied?

Michael Cohen: Clearly not in this case. 34 counts, one after the other, after the other, after the other of guilty. It’s accountability. It’s exactly what America needs right now. We need for accountability to be had by all those who break the law. No one is above the law.

We’re starting to roll out the new threads.net on desktop globally, so you can customize and personalize what you see. We have a lot of great ideas to make this the best website to share ideas, so stay tuned for more and let us know if you have any suggestions 🙏🏼

cmdr_nova,

I have 4 columns

It feels very much like the way the advanced web interface is on Mastodon, or for those who don't use Mastodon, uh, tweetdeck ;p
