Since pajama pants (girl) have shit for pockets, I’ve been sometimes wearing my short work apron with pockets to the grocery store. It makes me feel super self conscious, but I do it anyway. If only I liked skirts, maybe I could make apron pockets seem less weird by being more intentional and aesthetic.

Same for mending and sewing clothing. Except I’ve run aground a bit on my own perfectionism. I’ve somehow talked myself into making a pattern block for my butt so I can make the most optimal pants and shorts, but making a block is an Ordeal with Math involved and I haven’t had the bandwidth to accomplish it yet.

Isn’t the argument that people with disabilities are better off with accessible public transit over needing an expensive car, possibly with expensive modifications? Not all people with disabilities can even drive, and installing things like wheelchair lifts or ramps on a personal vehicle can get hella expensive.

Twin Cities had a laser show in the rotation. I’m curious how that stacks up against drones, as I never heard if it needed a backdrop or some shit

Aside from my grocery store basics, I subscribe to the Dollar Tea Store explorer monthly box (more like an envelope), and there are, in fact, a couple tea stores roughly local to me here in the Twin Cities, one that imports mostly Chinese teas and one that does Western-style blends in loose leaf.

I can whip up a nice lil homily about how purity is not actually a virtue. Originally intended for fundagelical Christians (about the sechs or about not hearing/looking at cusswords), it can be adaptable to quite a few circumstances because it is always easier to look good than do good.

Who knows, you still might find one – one that was buried by a bored farm kid. Might’ve made a nice diversion from cow-tipping.

I love this idea, but I’m already sold on the idea of co-living and stuff like that. I need to make some church lady friends to see if it’s feasible to use the church kitchen (not a religious myself but I grew up isolated in the sticks and that is my only frame of reference for how community is run: the cabal of lil old church ladies.) In the meantime, I think tool libraries should be carrying the weirder or less-used kitchen appliances (waffle irons/makers, dehydrators, giant crock pots, canning supplies). I’d still have a problem of lack of counter space in my lil apartment kitchen, but it wouldn’t be compounded by eaten cabinet space.

I do have a gaiwan, but for ease of use, I love my tea bags. I can collect a little graveyard of used ones on a saucer over the course of the week and then dump them in the trash when I can be arsed. But I admit I have terrible housekeeping habits and I usually don’t do dishes until I run out of dishes and/or silverware. I hate dishes.

I wanna start foraging, especially because it’s mulberry season where I live, but my tiny apartment kitchen is tiny, and I don’t have nearly enough space for all the gear to preserve the foods, nor the freezer space. What I need is a community kitchen, where I can borrow space and equipment. Shit, I might need to start another post on the community kitchens and/or their being analogous to tool libraries and communal workshop space.

I don’t have access to it, but I was so looking forward to a Trek with an actual planned story arc. Plus I’m also young enough to have a sentimental attachment to Voyager despite later figuring out that liking it as an adult means sifting out the good bits among a sea of cringe and wtf. Why can’t the Maquis wear clothes that don’t look fished out of a swampy dumpster? Why can’t they figure out Chakotay (and what fucken tribe he’s from)? Why are they so lazy as to always fall back on foiling Tuvok and Neelix? The kid could be annoying but at least we got to see a different, enjoyable side of Neelix.

I have good intentions about writing my own fixfic about Voyager, but I’m already negligent about my writing hobby.

Haha, I love that the acronym for the white Western “standard” is WEIRD (white, educated, industrialised, rich and democratic).

Because I am a childfree harridan, I’ve given a lot of brainspace to the huge and unfair expectations placed on motherhood (which is a huge secondary reason I’m childfree, the first being that I don’t actually like kids). I was also an emotionally neglected and isolated child, so I have a great deal of affection for the responsive parenting content, but yeah, the Runa absolutely have a point here that it can make you neurotic to feel like you have to keep up with every hiccup of your child. I like the idea of spreading the burden across the community, maybe if I hadn’t been so isolated as a child, I would have been able to get more of my emotional needs met without an additional crushing expectation on my parents. But I expect that interferes with WEIRD (still funny) ideals about controlling your child’s environment in order to have some control over their future outcomes (often meant kindly, but my dad is a pretty anxious person who did a lot of controlling behavior).

I’ve never done it before, but I’m willing to take on a couple of these one you’ve started up, like Folklore, Archaeology, Houseplants, or Palaeoecology.
