toaster,

That’s what was assumed decades ago when those subsidies began. We know better now.

toaster,

There’s !workreform

toaster,

Perhaps in the USA, which may or may not be true. But many of us internationally haven’t even seen the interview. Either way, !workreform is more appropriate.

toaster,

Maybe not the best suggestion for this community then.

toaster,

Apparently my sarcasm detector needs turning!

toaster,

100% the best thing to do. I’m curious if any of the lovely folks here have some more ideas I’m not considering.

Floating Island Garden (lemmy.world)

Our retention pond in our neighborhood has a lot of algae and problematic plant growth due to the surrounding farms and lawn runoff, so we’re experimenting with a floating island to pull nutrients out before they can cause problems. This will also provide some interesting flowering plants, and more fish habitats....

toaster, (edited )

What a great idea! I’m curious to see how this goes. Would you be open to cross-posting this to the solarpunk farming community? !farming

toaster,

You can attach a rope that’s tethered to shore and pull on it when you’d like to harvest.

[Osmand question] Graph widget elevation profile (i.imgur.com)

I updated osmand to 4.7.10 yesterday and now it seems like the little info widget on the bottom screen shows elevation (i assume), relative to the whole track, not the 10km that are currently shown in the widget. Cannot find anything in the settings. In the what’s new it said they did some changes to the graphs but i could not...

toaster,

Commenting to bump up the activity stat for you. The OSM forums may be a good place to ask as well.

toaster,

That’d be a handy feature. Consider opening an issue for it on GitHub.

toaster,

For those interested, AntennaPod is a pretty sweet free and open source podcast app for Android that’s very polished. A great alternative to Spotify, etc.

New homeowner, just sorta winging it... (lemmy.world)

Having never owned a house or really had a yard of my own, I got pretty excited and decided to do some ad-hoc landscaping. Built some raised beds for vegetables, and just laying in some organic shaped in-ground beds for low water decorative plants. Gonna fill the rest in with gravel. Any pointers?

toaster,

Sorry, I don’t understand your question.

toaster,

Looks great! You could add a rain barrel to easily water your plants for free. Just avoid watering vegetables with runoff from your roof.
