So I saw THIS Atlantic article linked on Bluesky and I found myself conflicted, nodding in agreement with almost everything the author wrote, yet simultaneously thinking he sounded exhausting and pretentious himself....
Look at it! Behold the butyl overmold on the comically oversized cap! See the screen printed lines like a 90s basketball sneaker! Feel the forced ergonomics of the weird section! Examine the submarine portholes of an ink view window!...
Was lurking a bit at the old place, and there was a thread asking who had never bet on CFB*, but the discussion went more into how legalized sports betting has affected fans’ engagement with college football. I am in a weird place, as I can’t come up with a lot of good reasons to specifically ban it when so many other forms...
If you use the right ink, the right plastic keycaps made for mechanical keyboards, and the right settings on your laser, you can effectively dye-sublimate any design you want....
…maybe a little too on the nose with channeling Horatio Hornblower and Jack Aubrey, there’s some truly problematic stuff with the native Medusans that goes all but uncommented upon, there’s some reactionary politics that may just be de rigeur for 20th century military sci-fi (I don’t know… would be happy to be...
Obviously inspired by the Wikipedia comparison table, but curated with an eye to the hobbyist needing 3D design, and with updated pricing where I could find it, as well as a few high-level usability notes. Suggestions and corrections are welcome....
This is almost certainly a late 1940s model, though maybe early 50s. The lever fills were phased out for all but black after the war. Re-sacced this one many years ago, IIRC with the polysac out of a Sheaffer converter, but I’m not inclined to crack it open to verify. Conical 14K triumph nib in a western F/M. Smooth with a...
**EDIT: In the interest of full disclosure, I had a filament break about 1/3 through, but that’s okay because the partial PLA print was nowhere near strong enough along the layer lines. There are plenty of decent 3D printed keyboards out there that just need some assembly and post-processing, so if this one doesn’t work...
Fifteen minutes in CAD (used Solid Edge CE for this one), fifteen more on the printer, and we have Liko’s hair clip ready to hot glue onto a little barrette. Drying paint and clear coat will take longer than the rest of it.
Please just figure out a way to pay kids for 3-5 year contracts. The portal, way more than NIL, is sucking all the joy out of this sport, but I can acknowledge that my interests as a fan only coincidentally and partially align with those of the players trading their services and health for my entertainment.
White oak, walnut, and Baltic birch ply. 3d printed pen dividers. It’s heavy and pen dividers are slick, so it doesn’t travel, but it’s held up really well....
…to go with my hand-wired keyboard (or any keyboard). Numpad is “Masonite” hardboard I cut myself and painted with “textured” spray paint. I had the keyboard layout cut from aluminum by Xometry a few months back.
Casual live performance from an old documentary. A few minor lyrical tweaks for those who know the song well, but a lovely performance from probably the iconic Texas troubadour.
What plot holes could be adequately explained away with a single shot or line of dialogue?
