Bear,

Yes! I love feeling pressure on my body - ironically not at all from a partner. I love winter because I get to sleep with two heavy blankets, my cat is especially cuddly and she sleeps on me all night, and I get to wear layers of baggy, comfortable clothing at home. I dread the summer time because that all goes away.

Bear,

Fringe and The Expanse would probably be my all time favorites. Next on the list: 12 Monkeys, Travelers, and naturally three shows that never reached their conclusion - Westworld, Raised by Wolves and for sure I think 1899 would have been a favorite.

Bear,

I know! That ending got me so hyped. I initially didn't care for 1899 because I'm not a huge fan of old timey, set at sea, whatever the fuck you'd call that type of genre. I had NO idea what it was about and once I realized I was hooked, and then of course the ending, potential space setting - right up my alley! But alas, another one bites the dust for the Netflix graveyard.

Bear,

Oh yes, The OA.. That ending as well. I was like oh man, next season is going to be something. Oh.. never mind. Then there's Santa Clarita Diet, Dirk Gently, those cancellations left such a bad taste in my mouth. Recently The Midnight Club and Warrior Nun was also cancelled - can't say I was in love with the WN but I got invested enough that I needed to see how it ended. At this point it's not worth starting something on Netflix.

The relief I felt when I saw that From had already been renewed for season 3, I think it was before season 2 started airing or just as it started, omg. And Silo has been renewed for season 2, thank god.

Bear,

If you enjoyed Fallout 4 then I'd give The Outer Worlds a try, I really enjoyed that. It's on Xbox game pass if you don't want to outright buy the game. Also The Witcher 3, if you enjoy open world, choices matter, etc. It's a stunning game with a great story.

For survival games I would definitely recommend The Long Dark, it's super cozy and enjoyable. I've really been enjoying Sons of the Forest - if the scary mutants aren't your thing I get it, but you have two buddies to keep you company and they took the edge off of the scariness for me and I really enjoy building my base and keeping myself alive. SotF is probably my favorite indie game, it was The Forest till this came out.

I'd also 100% recommend Valheim as well. Again, it's great fun to explore, build your base, tame animals, all that jazz.

Another favorite of mine is Going Medieval, it's a toned down, medieval Rimword - dunno if that is your sort of thing but it's loads of fun for me. More challenging than Stardew, less challenging than Rimworld.

Bear,

I used reddit for three things. 1) Post episode discussions for shows I watch, I love reading theories, etc. 2) Googling something + reddit to solve a problem or get accurate user experience or review on something. 3) Bedtime/bath time reading. Well, maybe 4 - mindless scrolling when I can't stand to be alone with my thoughts.

Number 3 can slowly be replaced by kbin easily enough - I mainly browsed AITA, Relationships, UnsolvedMysteries, something true crime related. But, I feel like 1 and 2 are not going to be easily to replaced on kbin, or it's going to be a while. I watched Silo and From last night and the itch I had to go on reddit afterwards to see discussions on the episodes, omg. I don't see subs like that, especially smaller ones for series, or their users, switching over to a reddit alternative - but I hope I'm wrong.

And then there is a sense of loss I suppose. I learnt a lot on reddit, a lot about the world, a lot about myself and how to be a better person - stuff I would never have learned otherwise to be honest. There were some fantastic resources on there and some incredible communities, but really that's just because of the users. At the end of the day I don't think reddit deserves to benefit from all the effort users have put into the site, after all the effort devs have put into apps and accessibility, etc, and then give a big fuck you to everyone.
