Behold the man who is a bean.

AFKBRBChocolate,

It’s a subject I’m always curious about - not eggs specifically, but cholesterol intake, serum cholesterol, and heart disease.

A few years ago, I had a physical and my doctor said my cholesterol was high, but he also said there was a contraindicator, and he didn’t want to put me on statens unnecessarily, so he had my get a coronary calcium scan, which is like a CT scan of your torso and they can measure how much buildup is in your arteries. The ranges are:

  • 0 = no calcified plaque detected (risk of coronary artery disease is very low – less than 5%)
  • 1-10 = calcium detected in extremely minimal levels (risk of coronary diseases is still low – less than 10%)
  • 11-100 = mild levels of plaque detected with certainty (minimal narrowing of heart arteries is likely)
  • 101-300 = moderate levels of plaque detected (relatively high risk of a heart attack within 3-5 years)
  • 300-400 = extensive levels of plaque detected (very high risk of heart attack, high levels of vascular disease are present)

I was in my late 50s, so something like 50 would be typical, but it came back as zero. I had relatively high cholesterol, but zero plaque buildup in my arteries relatively late in life.

I’m told that the relationship between cholesterol intake and heart disease isn’t well understood, and that there’s certainly a genetic component. Articles and studies like this one always catch my eye.

This article is more disinformation than the initial comparisons were.

The author clearly has no 3D experience. OF COURSE they had to fucking scale the models, 3D assets from different games and engines are not going to automatically share the same coordinate space. The point is that a lot of geometry that make up various pals is similar enough to pokemon parts that it has almost definitely been either traced or retopologized from the Pokemon originals. Multiple pals are just kitbashed together from random recreated bits of existing pokemon.

I don’t care about any vague AI accusations. I don’t care or know if what they’ve done is legal, I’m not a lawyer. I haven’t played a pokemon game since Red. But it should be clear that Palworld is at best creatively bankrupt, and they used their similarity to existing IP to gain viral success.

I’m not saying it’s a mechanically bad game. I’m not saying you should feel bad for playing it.

But this stuff is definitely ethically questionable and deserves to be discussed, and that is not helped by some idiots who do not understand 3D modeling weighing in about how “all the similarities were faked”. Because they were not.

How can I experience the best gameplay with the least dialogue possible?

I can sense this is going to get downvoted probably. I know you guys probably love all aspects of the game so it’s understandable. But I’m not into story based games. I’m into more active gameplay (mostly combat/adventure), of which there is a lot in Cyberpunk that’s actually good. I just want to know how to get the most...

Albbi,

Why not play something like a rogue-lite instead? Pretty much all action with minimal dialog.

Hades would be great. It does have a lot of dialog, but it’s in short spurts and is actually pretty great.

I’ve also just started 30xx, which is a Megaman rogue-lite. Almost no dialog but pretty fun.

It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with it

Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...

The music on YouTube isn't any more piracy than unblocked Spotify. YouTube's "official" music uploads (these that are a square with a blurred background behind the square) are acquired by paying DistroKid or record labels. Unofficial uploaders usually aren't monetized, either bc they didn't enable it、are niche、or got ContentID'd by YouTube. Those few that are monetized(e.g. Si𝚕vaGunner and Gi𝚕vaSunner (i.e. not Si𝙸vaGunner or Gi𝙸vaSunner)) usually get DMCA'd eventually.

Downloading from YouTube is piracy though, though like OP says some don't think so for some reason.

Fitgirl Repacks on Linux

Hey maties, just a hypothetical question I thought I would pose. Has anyone tried installing Fitgirl (or any repack I guess) on Linux using Wine or any of the similar compatibility programs? I have a couple repacks I would like to run on my Linux (Fedora 32) laptop and wondered if such a thing was even possible.

Moonsfather,

You could find help on those subs (https://www.reddit.com/r/PiratedGames)
but i don't know if they are still active.
May be we can find/create alternatives on lemmy/kbin...

hydra,

Soulseek is very much alive, try there. But please try to share your stuff too.
