I just listened to the whaler by Home Is Where (great album btw!) and the song whaling for sport has a solid buildup that I really enjoyed! What other songs does everyone enjoy that have similar buildups?
I absolutely love how many elements this song blends together. Electronic chorus, metal-core verse, power ballad bridge, thrash metal, then just a brutal ending. Chef's kiss on this one....
I like a lot of things, but for sure, a fair bit of metal! Symphonic and gothic metal were my go-to genres as a teenager, but my tastes have diversified since then.
Here's one of my favourite recent discoveries that I haven't been able to recommend to any of my friends in real life (progressive/alt metal I guess): RELIQA - I Don't Know What I Am
I thought the original was pretty but otherwise forgettable. What's consensus among viewers for the sequel? Great? Worth watching if you're bored? Skip?
I enjoyed it well enough at the time, though it didn't leave much of an impression on me afterwards
A weird thing I realised, though โ the visuals of the CGI forests and oceans don't really do anything for me personally (though many others seem to like them a lot, and I'm sure they are very technically impressive!). But... I absolutely loved the CGI spaceship shots at the very beginning. More of those please!
