Suggestions for Merino Wool Tshirts?

My old Merino wool shirts both have a hole now. They were the cheapest Amazon ones I found and sold even cheaper because the label was wrong. I want to buy new ones, but I need suggestions before buying a shirt for 70€ on the internet. I want a loose fit and black colour. Any suggestions for high-quality shirts? I’m in...

Decathlon? They used to carry somewhat decent wool shirts. The ones I got from there still hold up.

Half of Americans can’t install solar panels. Community solar is how they can plug into the sun. (wapo.st)

Scores of new small solar farms that sell clean, local electricity directly to customers are popping up. The setup, dubbed “community solar,” is designed to bring solar power to people who don’t own their own homes or can’t install panels — often at prices below retail electricity rates.

The "half of americans" in the headline is those that live in apartment buildings.

No roof, no solar power.
That has been the dispiriting equation shutting out roughly half of all Americans from plugging into the sun.

While community solar is indeed awesome, we need to have apartment and commercial buildings install solar as well.

Cut near the ground, then take a dauber full of roundup/glyphosate concentrate and carefully put it on the cut, making sure to coat the outer edge of the cut.
You want to make sure to get it on the cambium layer in the bark, as this will be where the privet pulls the roundup down into the root, killing the extensive root system that privet can develop.
Note that even with using roundup it may take a couple years to actually kill the privet.

Can't wait for Tesla to get smacked with the new Cemex standard and the UAW getting a default win because Musk couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Youtube-brained key image aside, this guerilla garden produces food and wildlife habitat in the middle of Queens.
Built on the motto: "If it's the right thing to do we have every right to do it."

All the big corporate unions are like this. They've been captured by groups that are more inclined to work for the corporate owners and the "friendly" politicians than for the union members.

The concept is good. A DIY alternative would be to build a foam+fiberglass shell around an e-trike for most of the same benefits.

Taking a look at most city maps I’m surprised how many areas, even older suburbs, fit the definition of 15 min cities already.

The issue is breaking the monopoly of the car on planning and actually making them bike and pedestrian friendly.

I encourage everyone to figure out the 15 minute bike radius around themselves and marvel at just how complete a life one can live in it.

It’s easy to set it up as a mobile “off-grid” wifi access point to host a calibre library of banned books.

This is good, but more work needs to be done to hook up private, home based solar and wind systems to the grid. Some local power companies still drag feet to tie home solar to their grid.

Far-right instances Gab and TruthSocial are also technically mastodon. By this metric mastodon also has a nazi problem.

Any software that allows people to communicate over the internet will be used by horrible people to do horrible things.

With jalapeños it’s a “pick them when they get to be the size you want” situation.

Your plant looks like it’s doing really well, awesome job!

You need to pull your usage records from the electric company to have a baseline of what you will need in terms of Kw over the course of a month. It should be on your bill.

Then figure out what you can cut, and what size generator/solar panels/battery backup you'll need to get by. Make sure to figure out what you are going to do in the cold months and the hot months.

THEN figure out if you are even allowed to be "off grid" in your area. You may be required to keep the electric line running to the house, but you can shut this off at your breaker box so you won't use any electricity. You will still get a monthly bill from the electric company for the hookup (it's usually very small, $5-$15).

best of luck!

For thousands of years humans have lived in "15 min villages" where almost everything has been nearby.

And most 15 min city definitions I've seen includes some sort of bike option.

I encourage everyone who lives in a city (or suburb) to look up routes from their home to groceries/pharmacies/schools/etc on google maps. I just did for myself and I'm already in a 15 minute city.

What's lacking is the infrastructure for people to safely get to these places without a car.

Not just incompetent, but also just plain mean.
After making an incompetent decision (super high api costs) he didn’t reassess the situation, he just started lashing out.

First at the app devs, then at the mods, now at the users.

Monk and Robot books by becky chambers are a good introduction to what is possible in a solarpunk setting.
